For 40 years, RE/MAX has displayed them all – in
residential, commercial and luxury real estate.
The RE/MAX network celebrates its

Among all the RE/MAX achievements through
the years, the most significant is that behind every

place to call home or a business with a new building.
That’s what RE/MAX is all about.

OPEN DIVISION
WORLD’S LONGEST HITTERS LAUNCH
AERIAL ASSAULT IN MESQUITE
The Defender
Carl Wolter
Without question, one of the
best and most resilient
competitors in LDA
history. Two-time
RE/MAX champion (2002, 2011)
probably should be called Mr.
Clutch. All time career leading
money winner among LDA Tour’s
Open Division hitters.
Jamie Sadlowski
& Joe Miller
Former RE/MAX champions Sadlowski
(2008-09) and Miller (2010) look to get
back into winner’s circle. Miller is
regarded by many as the man to beat,
while Sadlowski’s runner-up finish at
Mile High Shootout in August showed he’s
ready to go the distance in Mesquite.
Aaron Mansfield
& Ben Tua’one
They met in a memorable semifinal
in 2011 and could be headed to a return
engagement in 2012. Mansfield won
the 2012 Endless Summer Invitational
and led the tour’s points race; Tua’one
grabbed the title at the Tennessee Shootout and tied for second in the points race
with Kevin Shook.
Keep An Eye On: Dustin Merrill, Mike Dobbyn
Dobbyn, the 2007 RE/MAX world champion, arrives with serious mojo from his Mile
High Shootout win, while Merrill gets good vibes from returning to the scene of his
win at the Mesquite Shootout in March.
Breakthrough?: Landon Gentry, Ryan Winther
Each is overdue for a deep, deep run at worlds. Gentry has been a
model of consistency virtually everywhere but in Mesquite, while
Winther swings as fast as and hits as hard as any man alive.
Could Surprise: Josh Crews, Aaron Davis
Keep an eye on two of the sport’s rising stars, each of whom made
his mark on the 2012 LDA Tour. Crews produces missile after
missile, while Davis turns heads with his superb swing mechanics.
World Beaters: Andreas Persson, CJ Hellstrom
Hellstrom made the elite eight in 2011 and Persson cracked the sweet 16.
The two Swedish stars, along with England’s Joe Miller and Dan Konyk, headline
a strong European contingent.
Other Threats:
Probably a quarter of the field (or more) has a shot to land in the TV rounds on
Thursday afternoon. That group includes LDA Hall of Fame members Brian Pavlet
and five-time RE/MAX champion Jason Zuback.
Other players to watch:
In alphabetical order, are: Zac Adams, Maurice Allen, Brooks
Baldwin, Dan Beckman, Jon Bjelland, Kyle Blakely, Kevin Bullard,
Tim Burke, Trevor Consavage, Ryan Cooper, Jeff Crittenden,
Jeff Farley, Jeff Gavin, Brandon Holden, Austin Kincaid, Dan
Konyk, Michael Madrigal, David Mobley, Justin
Moose, Tim Naughton, Gerard Pera, Ryan eisbeck, Mick Yelovich and Kody Zurek.

the ripe age of 44 making his first RE/MAX Final. As a
former Major League Baseball player Pat felt at home
in the RE/MAX batters box by capturing the senior
crown of the RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship in 2002. Pat continued his winning ways battling
top senior competitors and Hall of Fame members
Bobby Wilson, Mike Gorton and Frank Miller on the
LDA Tour.
®
Pat grabbed a couple trophies along the way but
saved his best Hall of Fame performance in 2011.
Pat did the unthinkable, he competed in four divisions
at the ripe age of 54, the Open, Senior, Super Senior
and Legends. Making the television semi finals in the
senior division Pat hit a double winning the other two
divisions on the same day.
Pat is a tour representative for
UST Shafts on the PGA and
Web.com tour and resides
in Sunland, CA.
Frank Miller
For more than 20 years Frank Miller has been a force
in the sport of longdrive. After capturing the 1990
National Long Drive Championship in Boca Raton, FL
Frank continued his winning ways making a few finals in
early years of the RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship.
For years he has battled it out on the tee with fellow Hall of Famers Bobby Wilson, Mike Gorton and
Pat Dempsey. After a few close calls, Frank captured
the Senior crown of the RE/MAX World Long Drive
Championship in record fashion with a 393 yard blast
in 2007. He added some more hardware to his trophy
case by winning the Super Senior Division crown in
2010.
In addition to his stellar RE/MAX competitive
record Frank has amassed a solid record on the LDA
Tour with numerous finals and
a couple victories.
Frank resides in Covina, CA.
The New Decade MultiCompound Whiteout grip offers golf’s hottest grip
in a new, white color. This innovative hybrid features a high-performance
rubber material in the lower hand area for comfort and responsiveness,
as well as Golf Pride’s exclusive black BCT cord in the upper hand area
for all-weather control. See the full line at golfpride.com.

LONG DRIVE
VETERANS STILL
BRING THE HEAT
The Defender
SENIOR DIVISION
David Mobley
Mobley has won every senior division event he’s entered, both here and abroad, in recent
memory. Plus he’s had some high finishes in Open Division competition as well. Probably as
prohibitive a favorite as you’ll find at Mesquite Sports and Event Complex.
The Contender: Vincent Ciurluini
After two straight runner-up finishes, including an unforgettable 901-yard shootout (459-452) with Mobley in
2011, the popular Pasta Man remains focused on grabbing the gold ring. This might be his time to shine.
In The Mix: George Slupski
Insiders expect Slupski, the 2010 RE/MAX world champion, to bounce back from a
subpar performance in 2011, when he failed to make the top eight. If Animal has his
equipment issues straightened out, then look out.
Keep An Eye On: Eric Lastowka
The big masher from Massachusetts will be making his Senior Division debut. A
former world runner-up in the Open Division (2006), Lastowka is no stranger to the
TV lights and pressure. He could get on a roll and run the table.
Senior Division
Prize Money
Return to the Tee: Monte Scheinblum
Scheinblum ranked among the best of the best in power golf in the early 1990s, racking up 2-1-2 finishes at the
U.S. National Long Drive Championship. After playing professional golf for the past two decades, he’s ready to test
the waters of long drive again. The burning question: Will he bring the full Monte?
Could Surprise: Paul Swisher, Guy Schmidt
Both were impressive in rising through the ranks of RE/MAX local and regional qualifiers.
They look ready to ride that momentum all the way into the top eight in Mesquite.
World Beater: Johan Tumba
The animated Swede made the Senior Division semifinals in 2011, adding to a impressive track
record in Mesquite that includes a world runner-up finish in 2009. He’s not through, either, not
by a long shot.
Hall Monitors: Sean Fister, Pat Dempsey, Frank Miller Members of this LDA Hall of Fame trio will try to
muscle their way into the Senior Division’s TV rounds. And they just may succeed. After all, the 50-plus set snatched three
of the eight quarterfinal spots in 2011. It could happen again.
Players to Watch: Among the others on a short list of contenders are: Frank Campetelli, Tom Celone, James East,
Mark Frampton, Tom Garber, Craig Hagan, Barry Hay, Vince Howell, Lance Reader, Mitch Rochette, Kyle Sawyer & Lonnie White.

SIX WINNERS IN SEVEN EVENTS SPELLS PARITY
Deep and talented fields on the 2012 LDA Tour mean that at any
given stop on the circuit more than a half dozen or so hitters have
a realistic chance to take home the trophy and an oversized check.
That proved to be the case once again in 2012, as a schedule of
seven tour stops across America produced six separate champions.
Some headline grabbers and highlights from the 2012 season include:
Two-Timer: Landon Gentry
Only the big Floridian managed to capture multiple titles. Gentry won the Alligator Alley Shootout in his home state in early May
before claiming the Keystone Shootout in Pennsylvania in late July. The
two wins lifted Gentry into an elite LDA Tour Open Division category:
winners of three career tour titles. Mike Dobbyn would join Gentry in
that select group at the season-ending Mile High Shootout.
Top Two: Aaron Mansfield, Kevin Shook
Mansfield parlayed a succession of high finishes, including
the Dodge ESI title and a runner-up at the Keystone Shootout, into
a first-place finish on the LDA Tour’s points list. Kevin Shook, meanwhile,
secured the second spot in the points race with solid finishes throughout.
Rounding out the top five in tour points were Tua’one, Dobbyn and
Josh Crews.
Last Man Standing: Tim Burke
The top 16 on the 2012 tour points list gathered at WinStar
World Casino in Oklahoma on September 14 for the 2012 LDA
Tour Championship. A round-robin format, using a scoring
system based on accumulated points, brought the cream to
the top. Three of the top four – Aaron Mansfield, Dustin
Merrill and Ben Tua’one – were 2012 tour winners.
Leave it to the only non-winner in the top four, Tim
Burke, to steal the show at WinStar. The fourth-seeded
Burke caught fire in the stepladder finals, taking down
third-seeded Tua’one in the first match (379-364),
dusting second-seeded Merrill in the second match
(382-OB), and toppling top-seeded Aaron Mansfield in the third and final match (398-369). Burke
pocketed $10,000 for being the last man standing
in Thackerville.
First-Time Winners:
Dustin Merrill, Ben Tua’one, Mick Yelovich
After years of close calls, Missourian Merrill broke through at the Mesquite Shootout in March. Tua’one grabbed his first tour title at the Bart
Hartsell-hosted Tennessee Shootout, where the powerful Utahn had
been runner-up to Houston Hair in 2011. Yelovich won the Heartland
Shootout on his home turf in Illinois at the end of June in front of family
and friends.
LDA Tour Player of the Year:
Aaron Mansfield
Winners Again:
Aaron Mansfield, Mike Dobbyn
Based on consistency and superlative play,
Mansfield claimed the LDA Tour’s 2012
Player of the Year award.
Mansfield backed up his superb rookie season in 2011
by winning the Jeff Farley-hosted Dodge Endless Summer
Invitational in California in June. Dobbyn, the 2007 RE/MAX
world champion, returned to the winner’s circle at the Mile
High Shootout in Denver in August. The Las Vegas resident
outgunned Jamie Sadlowski in the finals.
