PACIFIC GROVE, Calif., October 12, 2014.The Pacific Grove Downtown Business
Improvement District is sponsoring a FREE trick or treating event on October 24, 2014 from
10am-3pm for ghosts and goblins of all ages! Activities will include candy, giveaways and
specials at participating businesses, music and entertainment and the Pacific Grove Police
Department’s Halloween Safety Zone. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
WHO: Downtown Pacific Grove Merchants
WHAT: All are encouraged to put on their Halloween costumes and trick or treat throughout
downtown Pacific Grove. Trick or treater’s will receive complimentary candy and goodies at
participating businesses. For all ages!
WHEN: Saturday, October 24, 2014, 10am-3pm, Rain or Shine
WHERE: Downtown Pacific Grove; participating businesses will have Halloween-themed
decorations at their main entry.
COST: This event is FREE and open to the public.

FIRE DEPARTMENT
BBQ Grill-Off. On Saturday, October 10, 2015, Monterey Firefighters Association Local 3707
members participated in a BBQ Grill-Off contest at the FallFest in San Francisco and received
first place for the best tri-tip!
FallFest supports one of the City’s most respected nonprofit organizations, Meals On Wheels of
San Francisco. There were restaurants, wineries, chef demonstrations as well as the BBQ Grilloff and music.
The mission of Meals on Wheels is to provide seniors what they need to live independent and
dignified lives by providing nutritious meals, professional social work and friendly human
contact. If you are interested in donating, volunteering or in more information regarding our

Community Safety Fair – On Saturday, October 10, 2015 there was a Community Safety Fair
located at the Monterey County Fair and Event Center in Monterey which was sponsored by
CIG Insurance. Monterey Fire Department personnel demonstrated the “jaws of life” and had a
fire engine on display for tours along with safety and disaster preparedness information. There
were many other participating agencies as well and the event had a successful community
turnout.
Carmel Fire Department’s 100 Year Anniversary – On Saturday, October 24, 2015, the
Carmel Fire Department will be celebrating its 100 year anniversary from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00
p.m. There will be an Open House at the Carmel Fire Station located at 6th Street between
Mission and San Carlos Streets. There will be activities such as a children’s obstacle course,
safety trailer tours, apparatus displays, and an auto extrication demonstration. There will also be
free hot dogs and popcorn while they last. Mark your calendars to celebrate!

The Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History is excited to announce Night Owl: Botany and
Brews on Saturday, Oct. 24th, from 7-11 p.m. Bottoms Up Homebrew Supply has assembled
some of the Monterey area’s greatest home brewers to let us sample a spread of beers made with
different varieties of hops and strains of yeast so you can find your favorite! We hope to see you
at the Museum!

Discover what’s unique and awesome about arachnids during Science Saturday: Spiders, held on
Halloween, Oct. 31, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. As always, Science Saturdays are free and open for

35th Annual Christmas at the Inns. Pacific Grove’s quaint bed-and-breakfast inns will be
celebrating the 35thannual Christmas at the Inns. Celebration includes 9 venues on the evenings
of Tuesday, December 1 and Wednesday, December 2, from 6-9 p.m. All Inns will be decked
out in holiday splendor this year, including eight inns and Asilomar Conference Ground’s
Phoebe Hearst Social Hall. The inns, many of them grand Victorian mansions from the
19th century that have been converted and preserved as much as possible to their original styling,
will take on a special glow for the holidays with festive decorations and lights. Tickets, good for
both evenings, are $20 each and are available at the Chamber office at 548 Central Ave., on the
corner of Forest Avenue. On Tuesday evening (Dec. 1) the tour includes Seven Gables Inn, 555
Ocean View Blvd; The Martine Inn, 255 Ocean View Blvd.; Gosby House Inn, 643 Lighthouse
Ave.; Centrella Bed and Breakfast, 621 Central Ave.; and Asilomar's Phoebe Hearst Social
Hall, 800 Asilomar Avenue. The lineup for Wednesday evening (Dec. 2), includes Green Gables
Inn, 104 5thSt.; Old St. Angela Inn, 321 Central Ave; Old Monterey Inn, 500 Martin Street,
Monterey, Jabberwock Inn, 598 Laine Street, Monterey and Asilomar’s Phoebe Hearst Social

ladies are asked not to wear high heels. Christmas at the Inns is part of Pacific Grove’s schedule
of holiday activities. The others include the Holiday Parade of Lights, featuring bands, floats and
carolers, and Fun in the Park for children.
