News 24 January 2016 GATI Orientation Camp Morning Devotion PIC:Rev. Esther & Amos Date 26/1 (Tues) 27/1 (Wed) 28/1 (Thurs) 29/1 (Fri) Books Esther Esther Esther Esther Chapter 7 8 9 10 Words from Senior Pastor Essence of Sunday Sermon Grace upon Grace Following & Pruning, Becoming the Overcomer Exodus 33 During the past weekend, accompanied with some of our M12 members, attended the BOL Kuching Church Dedication Ceremony with Rev. Joshua Cheung & Wife. It was a Church Dedication event filled with joy and good fellowship, akin to a family gathering, involving representatives from Mother Church, first and second generation daughter churches. ◎Rev. Esther Kong 1. Protection through grace (Exodus 33:1-11) Israelites sinned against God and worshipped the golden calf. Although God did not destroy them, He did not let them enter the Promised Land. He only sent His messenger there. Messenger represents God’s power. Israelites’ sins caused them to lose God’s presence, and only God’s power remained with them. This is a sign of disaster, because without God’s presence, everything is meaningless. Moses represented the leaders to meet God in the tent of meeting outside their camp. The Israelites repented in humility. Tent of meeting is where God meets His people. It is a place where we pray. When we sin, we must repent in prayers. Seated at the gathering hall, viewing their church building (Bol Kuching) process, I was somewhat stirred by memories of the days of GA land purchase and its subsequent church building, realizing the common similarity – faith in obeying God’s revelation to move on with church building work. I felt keenly then that God was preparing us to enter our 2nd phase church building project, and the timing was being made surer. 2016 is an important year of preparations for building. I believe the Lord will accomplish His work based on the measure of faith we have before we get to complete the work. God is fair and permit anyone who willingly follows, believes and draws close to Him to experience His miracle. 2. Grace upon intercession (Exodus 33:12-23) A. Shaking God's hand by intercession (Exodus 33:12-13) Moses pleaded God and reminded God that He knows Moses by name and He knows the people’s weaknesses. If God’s presence does not go with them, Moses would rather waste his life away. Moses grabs hold of God, pleading with God not to give up on His own people. Leaders need to intercede for the people so that God will be gracious towards them once again. Many things worthy of our thanksgiving happened during this trip. I discerned God’s promotion and favor, being shown favor and honored, given the honor alongside Rev. Joshua to bless 611 Kuching first & second generation daughter churches, to rekindle and encourage that fire of life in others, is truly an anointing from only the Lord. During lunch, Rev. Anton Cruz made it a point to release a revelation he received for us, saying he saw in me a spiritual pregnancy, that I should pray much, seeking deeper into God’s Will on what needs to be accomplished. The word “pleased” appears 5 times (Exodus 33:12, 13, 16, 17). “Mercy” is the original word for “pleased” and it appears twice (Exodus 33:19). Altogether this root word appears 7 times and it shows the continuous reappearing of God’s grace. God’s heart will be softened as the leader intercedes and the people repent. B. Soften God's heart (Exodus 33:14-15) Moses wants God to lead them and not just being with them. He pleaded for God’s mercy unashamedly. As leaders, we need to intercede with such attitude. C. Release upon Shabbat (Exodus 33:16-17) When God’s presence is with our ministry, it will be a Sabbatical ministry. According to the truth, the Israelites must be destroyed. However, God’s love supersedes the truth, and thus the Israelites escaped death. God even changed His mind and go with the Israelites. In this way, God shows Moses that he is blessed and therefore Moses receives Shabbat. Upon return from Kuching our Morning Devotion fell on Esther 5, which showed us that what came from “fast & pray” was God extending His golden scepter of grace to Queen Esther, and the need for the “tomorrow” kairos. I felt, for a number of days, God was about to reveal to us something momentous will yet take place, taking cue from the time of prophetic word of Rev. Anton Cruz being released on 16th January 2016, ten months later will be our 12th Church Anniversary. I am convinced of new things to be happening then! 3. Release upon rest (Exodus 33:18-23) A. Greatly blessed due to humility (Exodus 33:18-20) Moses asked God to show His glory as confirmation of God granting His request. No one can see God face to face for those who see Him shall perish. However, God granted Moses this impossible request. He is determined to show His grace and mercy towards Moses. When we humbly pray according to the grace of God, God will be gracious, grace upon grace; and mercy, mercy upon mercy. After the church dedication service, Rev. Joshua and wife, Rev. Jason and wife, Rev. David Ling and wife and both of us proceeded to a retreat (3 days 2 nights). During that retreat, we looked at needed changes, new horizon and break through; and also discerned certain new directions that the LORD had revealed; but the most precious thing being the sweet communion we experienced through relational break through. By way of the “Inside Out” emotional analysis, we could understand more relating to the importance of emotional aspects in relationship, that good and stable interpersonal relationships are key to successes in many areas of life. Willingness to receive continuous pruning in life prepares us to become steady overcomers. May the LORD prepare our Co-workers, Cell Leaders and all brothers and sisters to be such overcomers. ■ B. Know God more (Exodus 33:21-23) Hand is the power of God, and it represents the Holy Spirit. God used power to cover Moses, preventing His glory from destroying Moses so that Moses can eventually see His glory from His back. Moses saw God’s glory with his naked eyes, as well as experiencing God’s love and mercy. God is a gracious God. Those who are willing to repent in humility like Moses can experience God’s glory, love and mercy.■【This sermon message was delivered on Jan 10, 2016.
