BRADNER SCHOOL GOALS
Performance Goal: #1 To improve all students’ achievement in Numeracy.
Principal’s Message
making Bradner Elementary a place where students continue
to excel.
Congratulations Students, Staff, and
Parents at Bradner Elementary School
Sincerely,
Ms. P. Collier
Proud Principal of Bradner Elementary School
As many of you are aware, each year students in grades 4 and
grade 7 complete the Ministry of Education ‘Foundation Skills
Assessment (FSA)’ tests. These tests assess our students in the
areas of Reading, Writing, and Numeracy. Some of the
questions asked on the FSA tests were completed by our
students in a booklet provided while other questions and tests
were done on-line and submitted directly to the Ministry of
Education.
Bulldog Assembly
The Fraser Institute takes these scores and produces a Report
Card on British Columbia’s Elementary Schools. The report
that is produced each year ranks schools in the province on
their performance. This report is only one snapshot of how
well schools are doing in the province and there are many
factors that affect the outcome of those rankings. For example,
test sampling size can have dramatic affects on results. A small
sample size where one score is much lower than another can
sway the results significantly. Good or bad, these annual
results must be viewed with caution.

Regardless, we feel it is important to recognize and celebrate
how well our students and our school is doing. Please note,
that how well our students and staff are doing is also a direct
reflection on how supported we are by our parents who
tirelessly support our students in their success, as well.
Bradner Elementary was the top elementary school in the
Abbotsford School District, and was ranked second in the
province when compared to all other public elementary
schools. Overall, Bradner was 23rd out of 982 schools across
the province in the rankings, which also included private
schools.
It is with enormous pride that I thank the students, staff, and
parent community for their hard work and dedication in

Nights of Music – Abby Arts Centre
Students in Division 1 and 2 are busy rehearsing for
the upcoming School District Nights of Music
Wednesday, April 30th at 7 p.m. @ Abby Arts Centre.
Our students will be playing handbells as part of a
wonderful evening of music. (Students are to arrive @ 6:30pm
and should wear any combination of black & white.)
Nights of Music is a wonderful time for schools to share their
music with each other and the community. This exciting event
is put on by The Abbotsford Music Educators’ Association and
supported by the Abbotsford School District. Not only do
students have an opportunity to perform, but they also have
the chance to see what other schools are doing. Each evening
features a wonderful variety of groups; recorders,
classroom/school choirs, jazz ensembles, handbells, ORFF
instruments and bands. These evenings give the students,
parents, and teachers an ideal opportunity to find out what’s
happening in their area, as well as help students see what is in
store for them once they reach middle and secondary school.
The $2.00 audience admission fees support the AMEA Music
Scholarship Fund for Abbotsford Students.
Please mark this NEW date on your Calendar.
