Dear Friends
A warm welcome to you all on our 4-day trip to the beautiful Côte d’Opale region in the
north of France - so close to Great Britain but yet so different!
The purpose of our visit is both to get you started in French and to enjoy yourself in the
process.
You’ll be out and about seeing le quotidien français up front, so to speak, as well as
learning the language in class. The French ‘live to eat’, so visiting a chocolatier, a pâtissier
and being invited to a soirée crêpes, not to mention sampling French cuisine in the
evenings are an entirely appropriate introduction to life as the French see it, especially if
you have not been lucky enough to visit this fabulous country before.
No visit to France is complete if you haven’t been to at least one of the many different
theme parks on offer - and we get to visit two! Make sure you don’t forget your wet weather
kit and swimming gear…
If this is your first visit to France (or even overseas), have no fear and ‘live
adventurously’. Even the most limited use of the language will lead to a grateful smile and,
once you’ve made that gesture, people are very understanding - much more so than if you
only use English to communicate.
So, buckle up and give everything that’s on offer a try - and remember that if you don’t
know about something or are not sure, just ask!

Accommodation – Village de Vacances Stella Maris
Located in spacious grounds, on the outskirts of the lovely resort of Stella Plage with its
beautiful golden sands, this centre is a firm favourite with youth groups visiting the Côte
d’Opale. Purpose-built for groups, this centre comprises 85 en-suite rooms with 1-4 beds,
including 3 suitable for guests with reduced mobility. As well as the on-site restaurant
guests can enjoy a video room, games room with pool, table football. ping pong, library,
tennis courts and plenty of space for outdoor games.
Meals
Below is a breakdown of all of the meals for the trip
There will be opportunities to purchase snacks and drinks
throughout the trip. This will be monitored by staff to avoid the
eating of too much inappropriate food! Do consider sending in a
tuck box of snacks which Adrian promises not to raid!
The only time the children will be responsible for their own meal is on the return ferry.
Please do supply £10 in a named envelope which will be kept by the staff until we travel
home.

Day trips
Boulangerie
A boulangerie is at the heart of every French village, and
this ever-popular visit shows pupils how French breads and
pastries are made in a traditional family bakery. Groups are
given demonstrations by the friendly and knowledgeable
staff, and will each receive a freshly baked product to enjoy.
Nausicàa
The national aquarium of France has a commanding
position overlooking Boulogne’s beautiful beach, and
provides visitors with a fascinating insight into marine life.
The centre is home to sea lions, penguins and sharks, and
pupils are given many opportunities to see the marvels of
life under the sea! Pupils will leave with a richer
understanding of the underwater eco-system and its fragile
balance.
Chocolaterie
We will be immersed in the mouth-watering world of
chocolate at a local chocolaterie, and discover the many
sizes, shapes and varieties of chocolate which are made in
the traditional French manner. The visit will end with an
opportunity for your group to buy as much chocolate as it
can carry, and is a must-have excursion for children and
life-long chocoholics alike!
Aqualud du Touquet
Aqualud is a huge water park on the seafront in Le Touquet
and consists of several indoor and outdoor pools, a wave
pool and a giant toboggan run. Housed under a glass dome
is a giant pool with waves, 'rocky' slides, jacuzzis and a
solarium. The outdoor section is open in summer and
consists of a further 3 pools, flumes and rides.
Please note that swimming pools in France do not
allow longer swimming shorts, and swimming trunks or
briefs must be worn by all boys
Parc Bagatelle
This uniquely French theme park, just south of Le Touquet,
offers something for everyone. From carousels to water
rides, and petit trains to montagnes russes, this park is sure
to thrill, whatever your age or interest.

Packing List
Important items to hand in at the office by Friday 24th of June:
 PASSPORT
 EHIC health insurance card. If you do not have an EHIC card, it takes about two
weeks to arrive, and will need to be applied for as soon as possible at
www.applyehic.org
 All spending money (no more than €50) in denominations no bigger than €10
notes, and in a marked envelope.
 A named envelope with £10 for the meal on the ferry home.
We are on a tour during the school term and will be representing the school. Please ensure
that all clothing is appropriate for the occasion. If at any time the staff are not satisfied with
the dress of a pupil they will be required to change their clothes. This includes make-up
and unacceptable logos on clothes.
Just a small reminder we are only going on tour for 4 days, so please do not over-pack as
the space is limited.
 You must be able to carry your own bag!
 (15-20kg weight for your luggage – do no exceed this limit)
