In keeping with the mission of the
Bayard Cutting Arboretum, our CSA
Farm pledges to uphold the principles of
sustainable growing using organic
methods, relationship building,
educational and community outreach. It
is the first and only CSA in the New
York State Park System. The Farm is
located on 14 acres of tillable soil,
adjacent to the estate’s original barn, on
land that was the former cow pasture of
the Bayard Cutting Estate.

† ABOUT THE ¢
“food producers + food consumers + annual commitment to one another = CSA and untold possibilities”
BAYARD CUTTING ARBORETUM
Bayard Cutting Arboretum was donated
to the Long Island State Park Region by
Mrs. William Bayard Cutting and her
daughter, Mrs. Olivia James, in
memory of her husband, William
Bayard Cutting. The intent of the
donation was “to provide an oasis of
beauty and quiet for the pleasure, rest
and refreshment of those who delight in
outdoor beauty; and to bring about a
greater appreciation and understanding
of the value and importance of informal
planting.

What is Community Supported
Agriculture?
Community Supported Agriculture
(CSA) is made up of members who
share in the costs and operation
of a farm, receiving in return, a
share in the harvest.
What do Members Receive?
The
Farm will provide nearly thirty
varieties of organically grown
vegetables, flowers and herbs that
will be harvested weekly from May
to November. Depending on
weather conditions, the harvest of
each vegetable may be more or
less than planned.
What is Expected of Members?
Members are asked to make a
financial commitment to the farm
prior to the start of the season.
Additionally, members are asked to
provide time for the benefit of the
Farm throughout the growing
season. Help is needed in such
areas as planting, harvesting,
vegetable distribution, community
and education outreach.
