A message from Rafael Bonachela,
Artistic Director and Anne Dunn,
Executive Director.
Welcome to Dance Noir: Latin Fever, Sydney
Dance Company’s annual fundraising party.
We’re thrilled to welcome some of our
closest friends and supporters this evening
to celebrate tonight’s fiesta of dance.
Tonight you will see our dancers perform
works they have created specifically for the
evening. If you are a regular attendee, you
will know that this is only a taste of our
dancers’ immense talent. If you are new
to Sydney Dance Company, we hope it
leaves you wanting more! As Sydney Dance
Company heads towards its 50th year in
2019, we are pleased to report that the
Company is busier than ever; we’ve already
performed more than 50 times this year to
almost 50,000 people.
What you may not be aware of is that our
ensemble of dancers is also delivering an
extensive education program engendering a
love of contemporary dance in the next
generation. Our DancEd programs reach
thousands of young people in schools and
communities across Australia every year; in
fact we’ve just returned from a national tour
which saw hundreds of young people take
part in workshops. The part you play in the
Sydney Dance Company story is critical.
Government funding only provides 40%
of our annual operating income so your
support for the Company and our activities
is vital to help us take to the stages and
studios of Australia and beyond. We hope
that you will be tempted tonight to make
a gift to Sydney Dance Company by

a tax-deductible pledge of support. We are

Dance Company by doing what we all love
