Mother’s Day Teas
April and May
2016
This is a favorite day for teachers, students, and moms. The classes work very hard to make this a
special time just for mom, and the kids love to get dressed up. They feel so proud for what they have
accomplished. Be sure to mark your calendar, and make sure that a woman who is special in the life of
your child can attend. This can be mom, grandma, aunt, neighbor, friend, etc.

2016-2017 Registration & Scholarship Information
We are continuing to accept
registrations for next school
year! Some of our classes are
already full. Don’t get left out!
Registration brochures are
located in the main hallway on
the Welcome Table. We have
had an increase in parents
interested in enrolling their
children in multiple classes. If
you enroll your child in a M/W/F
class and a T/Th class, you will
receive a 10% discount on the T/
Th class. Please remember, that
in order to register for next
year’s class, you must be current
with this year’s payments.
Scholarship applications for
the 2016-2017 school year
are available in the preschool
office and are due back by
July 31, 2016. If you are
applying for financial assistance,
go ahead and register your child
for next year to ensure his/her
place in class. We will notify you
of your scholarship status prior
to the beginning of the school
year. Be sure to thoroughly fill
out the scholarship application
and include all required
documentation. Incomplete
applications will be returned to
the applicant, and will only be
considered upon completion.

Summer Adventure Program & Vacation Bible School
Irvington United Methodist
Church has scheduled the 2015
Vacation Bible School for June
20-24th. Information will be
sent home in backpacks. If
interested in volunteering,
please contact Lori Steuer in
the preschool office at
356-7232.
Summer Adventure Program
(SAP) information and
registration forms are ready.
A flyer will be sent home in
backpacks. The 2016 SAP
days will be July 11. 13, 15 and
18, 20, 22.
Weather Changes
Please remember, that as the weather warms, we will be spending
more time outside. Please make sure that your child is dressed
appropriately each day for the weather. This includes shoes that
are safe for the playground. Open-toed shoes and sandals are
hazardous on the playground. Also, if your child wears a skirt or
dress, please have them wear shorts or tights that allow them
freedom of movement and modesty on the playground.

Penguin Class
The color of the month for April
is purple, and our shape is a
square. In April, we will be
working on Art Gala, Mother’s
Day surprises and Preschool Fun
Week.

graduation music,
getting ready for our
annual Penguin camp
out, and, of course, preparing to
say goodbye.
We will begin Fun week by
wearing our pajamas to class and
cooking breakfast, my favorite!
Wednesday day will be our music
and Friday our spirit day.
Our Mother’s Day Tea is
Wednesday, May 4th, at 10:00
am, in the Parlor. This is a very
important event for your child.
Please make plans to attend, and
please arrange a sitter for
younger siblings. If you cannot
attend, it is very important to
send a grandmother or other
special woman in your place.
We would like to thank all of our
parents in advance, for the
success of our Preschool Art
Gala.
With the warmer weather,
please make sure your child has
a jacket and appropriate
footwear for the playground.
For May, we will review our
shapes and colors. We will be
finishing up Mother’s Day
projects, working on evaluations,
We are very excited and, also,
saddened that we are coming
to the end of our school year.
It has been an absolute
pleasure getting to know your
children. We will miss them all
dearly!
A special birthday shout out to
Mrs. Rudicel, Sophie, Amos,
Trixie and all the Penguins who
have summer birthdays.

Our annual pretend camp out is
in May, check bulletin board for
details. Don’t worry, we “camp”
right here at school, with tents,
a “fire”, and even fishing!. This
is a super fun event, so check
backpacks for upcoming info.
Lion Class
Wow, can you believe our
school year is almost over?
We still have lots of great
events before summer
break, like our circus day,
where we explore colors,
shapes, math, science, and
fun.
On Thursday during preschool
Fun Week, we will enjoy
wearing hats and learn about
music. If you have a musical
instrument and/or a musical
talent, we would love for you to
share it with the Lion
class, or the entire
preschool. On
Tuesday we will wear
our pajamas and make
breakfast.
The month of May will begin
our preparations for our
Mother’s Day Tea Tuesday,
May 3th at 10:30 am. This is a
wonderful event for a special
woman in your child’s life. In
May, we will also explore
nature and enjoy an all school

picnic. Our last day of school is
the same day as the Lion class
morning graduation.

Caterpillar & Butterfly Class
Winter is over and we are looking forward to spring! We will plant our green bean
seeds in paper towels. We will put them in plastic bags and hang them in the window so we can watch the roots grow in the sun.
We will be sending home our poster boards for our all about me project. We will use them for the Art
Gala.
Our lovely little friends, the caterpillars, will arrive soon. We will patiently watching them grow from
caterpillar, to chrysalis, to butterfly. We are also working on special surprises for the Art Gala, Mother’s Tea and graduation. Graduation is rapidly approaching. We will miss all of our school friends during
summer break!

Owl Class
I can’t believe the end
of the year is almost
here. We have been
blessed this year with a truly
unique bunch of children. Each
one has something special to
offer this world, and we are
proud to have been part of that.
Thank you for sharing your
children with us. April hosted
Spring, Easter and Butterfly
Fun. Preschool Fun Week is the
last week of April. Monday, the

are getting started, and the
children will be working hard to

moms. Please keep in mind this
is a special event for moms and
their preschooler, so this is an
early reminder to start finding
childcare for siblings.

Dolphin Class
The months of April and May will
be busy with units on "Art",
"Spring", "Bugs", and "Oceans".
We will be observing the
changes in our outside world, exploring
how and why things grow, and we will
even raise our own caterpillars into
butterflies! We are also preparing for our
Annual Mother's Tea Party and getting
ready for the end of the school year.
At the end of April, Preschool Fun Week will
kick off with "Pajama Day" on Monday,
followed by "Music Day" on Wednesday,
and closing out the week with viewing a
live performance of the book Brown Bear
on Friday.
Bunny Class
Spring is here! It was lovely
relaxing during Spring Break but
we are glad to be back. We have
so much planned for April and May: Art Gala,
Fun Week, Mother’s Tea and graduation. The
Bunnies continue to explore their world but
now, more than ever, they are doing it
together.

Turtle Class
Hi Turtle friends.
March was loads
of fun. All of our
activities involved Dr. Seuss. In
the month of April, we learned
about Spring, how the seasons
change and how the flowers and
bugs come out. We will do a
thematic unit on Eric Carle. Feel
free to bring in your Turtle’s
favorite Carle story. With this,
we will have real life caterpillars
and watch them grow into
butterflies before we release
them.
Preschool Fun Week is the last
week of April. Monday will be
pajama day, Music Day will be
on Wednesday, and Friday will
be dress as a book character day.
If you play an instrument, let us
know!
Please check the bulletin board
for dates.
We will have a thematic unit on
the Skippy Jon Jones books and
use our imaginations like him.
We will have a Cinco de Mayo
party to finish up our “Skippy”
unit.
We will take a walking trip to see
“music man”.
In May, we will be busy making
gifts for our moms. Mark your
