Receive Unconditional Letter of Acceptance
Accept the offer by paying the Confirmation Deposit - CAD 100 for Graduate
programs and CAD 200 for the Undergraduate programs
GIC deposit of CAD 10,000 (Recommended proof for the living expenses)
Pay 1st year tuition fee (Recommended)
Apply for Study Permit
Book your on campus accommodation once you get the study permit:
o Those planning to live on campus are required to book the preferred option
which is sent to them in their orientation packet, and to pay the $500 non
refundable deposit to reserve their room. This should be done as far in
advance as possible. If students wait, they run the risk of residence filling
up.
o The housing form and deposit should be mailed only after receiving the Visa

Book the refundable tickets after you receive the Unconditional Letter of Acceptance and
apply for the study permit. Make sure that arrive at Campus
Direct flight to Toronto is recommended, if not too expensive via Air Canada about 14 hours
flight.
Highly recommended to have a gap of 4 - 5 hours between two flights if unable to book a
direct flight to Toronto.
Please fill the International student pre-arrival form to book the free airport pick up services
available from August 21st to Sept 5th Only.
Please book the tickets to arrive on Campus between August 21st to August 29th as the
International Orientation starts on August 31st.
Check the list of items which are prohibited by Airports and Airlines.

Documents One Must Carry – Hand Luggage
Carry the following documents safely in your hand baggage's as they may be required
during the immigration checks.
1)
Valid Passport and a Valid Study Permit (Original and Photocopies)
2)
Original Letter of Acceptance (Photocopies)
3)
All receipts of payment (1st year tuition fees + GIC - Highly recommended)
4)
Evidence of adequate funds for your stay in Canada
5)
Letter of introduction being issued by Citizenship and Immigration Canada
6)
Any other documents recommended by the visa office
7)
A list of items, in duplicate, for all the items you are carrying along with an
approximate value of the items.
8)
A record of immunization and Travel Insurance
9)
All your Educational documents like Grade 10th, 12th transcripts, Transcripts of
Graduation and Proof od Degree, GRE, GMAT, IELTS Scores, Recommendation
Letters etc in original as well as attested copies

Baggage Information





Usually with most of the airlines two checked- in bags for 23 kilograms and
one carry on bag for 7 kilograms are allowed.
TSA Locks- Transportation Security Administration (TSA) locks are a must.
These locks can be opened by security officers using universal "master" keys
so that the locks may not have to be cut. These locks are available at airports
and travel stores nationwide. The packaging on the locks indicates whether
they can be opened by TSA.
Carry items like toothbrush, small tube of paste, face wash, small towel in your
hand bag and one change of clothes.
It is recommended to have items in zip lock pouches.
Large lotions, perfume bottles aren’t allowed in carry on bags. Do not carry
any toiletries with a volume of over 100 ml.
Utensils/Clothes – Must Carry






T shirts (round neck, collard) & Jeans( Blue and Black)
Formal Shirts and Pants, and atleast one set of formal suit with ties
Shorts, track pants, swimming gear, hangers, alarm clock, iron, Sewing kit,
Towels, Bed Covers XL, Pillow cases, Pillow. All sorts of shoes, but at least one
formal and one sneakers. Shoe polish ,Sweater and one light jacket for the
flight.
You should aim at investing in one good long overcoat from Canada
itself.(keep 150-200 CAD for its purchase).
Indian wear formal and casual, toothpaste, shaving foam, razors, soap and a
case, shampoo, creams, sunscreen, Hair oil, comb, deodorant, nail cutter, ear
buds.
Utensils: Pan with lids, spoons, plates, knife, chopping board, chapatti roller,
Water bottle, Tea strainer and Pressure Pan.
Calling Cards





Carry from India only if it is really
required as this is very expensive

Health





Full body check-up: Treatments are very
expensive in the Canada, in particular
Dental
Immunizations needs to be taken, health
form A to be completed
Insurance: Travel insurance. All
international students are required to
have UHIP health insurance. Policies from
your home country will not take the place
of this mandatory insurance.
Medicines: Get as many basic tablets as
possible.
UHIP Health insurance plan is a mandate
for all International students.

Electronics are mostly cheaper in
the Canada but you may take these
from India, if you want:

 Laptop: If you have your own
laptop, bring it.

(very important)
 Please note that if you are
carrying electric kettle or
electric rice cookers, you should
note that Canadian voltage is
110 volts, 60 Hertz.

like rice, dal, roti, tea and coffee

shoes and laundering
As you are aware that winter in
Canada is very cold, please take
woollen wear like sweaters,
jackets, gloves, socks, and cap
Canadian Currency

You should carry Forex of CAD $ 3000 to $ 5000 CAD in form of
Demand Draft, Travellers Cheque.

Carry in the form of cash of around CAD 800-900 for immediate
purchases like sim cards, food and winter coats and change of CAD 15
– 20.

Take the currency for the country where there is a flight to halt during
the journey for small purchases like tea and snacks. Even the credit
cards should work






On the campus- The Study (Coffee shop), The Outpost (Pub), Cafeteria,
there are randomly scattered Tim Horton's (Coffee outlets like Café
Coffee Day) on campus
Sanskruti Bazaar – Hindu Temple (30 minutes by bus)
‘The Study’ offers Indian meal once in a while.
Indian Restaurant – Masala Grille ( Around 20 minutes from the
university campus – a meal for two people may cost around CAD 35
