MACKINAC ISLAND LILAC FESTIVAL
JUNE 13-15, 2015
Imagine staying in a National Historic Landmark. Now,
go beyond the imagination to a magical day and a half,
and you have begun to define the ultimate resort destination that is… THE GRAND HOTEL. Quite uncommon,
no two guest rooms are the same, each having its own special character
and view. Amenities include a fivefive-course dinner, big band music, garden
walks and many, many more...all of which make our stay unforgettable.
Sunday
June 13
We begin our journey by boarding our motorcoach and
heading north. We’ll get acquainted with other tour
members as we travel the shores of Lake Michigan.
The usual meal and rest stops will be made en route.
Late afternoon we cross Lake Huron by
ferry and arrive on Mackinac Island. We
are greeted by horse & carriage and
whisked away to our home away from home … the world’s largest summer hotel with its 600-foot veranda – The Grand Hotel. The hotel’s splendor and its
gracious hospitality have placed it among the world’s finest. We enjoy our surroundings—antiques from around the world, meticulously groomed gardens,
and gourmet dining. Nightfall brings an elegant evening beginning with a five-course dinner accompanied
by live music. Later, relax over a cocktail in one of five lounges, or dance the evening away to the sounds of
the Grand Hotel Orchestra. (L, D)
Monday
June 14
A full, cooked-to-order breakfast is
served in the dining room each morning
(included). We are treated to a horsedrawn carriage tour of the island.
Learn all of the ins and outs and what makes this island one
of the most popular destinations in the country. The remainder of the
day is completely free to stroll through the beautiful gardens and enjoy the many amenities and
recreational facilities at The Grand...outdoor pool, whirlpools, sauna, tennis courts, bocce, cro-
quet, horseshoes, volleyball and an
18-hole golf course. Then venture
off the resort—browse the boutiques
in the gingerbread-laced buildings,
sample the homemade fudge, or
just enjoy the
wonderful aroma
of the lilacs. Mackinac Island boasts over
100 species. Sit along the marina with the
fresh lake breeze gently blowing, take time
to view the lighthouses, or grab a bicyclebuilt-for-two and circle the island. Once
again this evening we are treated to the elegant dinner in the dining room. (B, D)
Tuesday
June 15
We enjoy the wonderful breakfast in the dining
room before we are taxied downtown in a horsedrawn carriage. We catch the ferry back to the
mainland and once again board our motorcoach for
the drive back home. We remember a wonderful
time filled with interesting attractions, serene surroundings, beautiful scenery, elegant dining and the
experience of staying at the fabulous Grand Hotel. (B, L)
