A Certified Chef-de-Cuisine and sommelier, he has
also achieved Level 3 Assessor status for the Wine &
Spirit Education Trust (WSET) based out of London,
England, as well as having successfully completed
their rigorous Diploma of Wine and Spirits certification. Tim has the distinction of being the only Certified
Chef de Cuisine & Sommelier, that also holds the prestigious WSET Diploma of Wine & Spirits in Canada.
He is founder and Past-President of the BC Wine Appreciation Society. Volunteer service includes working with
the Vancouver International Wine Festival as a judge and
serving on various committee’s.
Named one of the 25 most influential women in Canada by Chatelaine Magazine, Fanny Kiefer’s long and
distinguished career in broadcasting started in radio
in Vancouver. She was mentored by some of Vancouver’s legendary interviewers like the late Jack Webster
with whom she worked. Fanny went on to become
the first woman in Vancouver to host her own radio
talk show on CJOR. She also spent 10 years hosting
at CKNW, and also had her own shows on CBC TV
and CBC Radio One. Fanny is also an inductee in the
B.C. Entertainment Hall of Fame.

ITINERARY - 9 DAYS
Day 1 - May 16: Arrive Italy
Arrival at the Milan Malpensa, transfer to Pollenzo. Welcome dinner at hotel.

Day 2 - May 17: La Morra - Carmagnola
Morning departure for a tour of the wonderful Barolo vineyards with the first stop at the La
Morra scenic viewpoint, where you can admire
the hills and surrounding vineyards. Visit to the Elio Altare’s wine cellars and taste their
extraordinary wines accompanied by some of the typical local produce of Langa. Departure for Carmagnola and a visit to the Agripiemonte farm where one of the Piedmontese
breeds is raised: the Carmagnola Grey Rabbit - Slow Food Presidium.
Transfer to the hotel and overnight stay.

Day 3 - May 18: Asti
Morning departure for Asti to see the city; visit the Torronificio Barbero nougat private
collection and plant, with a tasting of the typical chocolate sweets and nougats.
Lunch and wine tasting and visit of the cellar at the Montemagno winery in the Barbera
area. Return to the hotel.

Day 4 - May 19: Pollenzo – Mongiardino Ligure
Morning in Pollenzo, stroll through the center, a visit to the Banca del Vino Slow Food
(Wine Bank) followed by a guided wine tasting.
Departure for Mongiardino Ligure and a break at the country farmhouse Caseificio Vallenostra to taste the Montébore cheese (Slow Food Presidium) and join a cooking class
dedicated to the Piedmontese agricultural tradition, followed by dinner. Depart for Sestri
Levante. (Mongiardino Ligure- La Spezia about 2 hours)
Overnight in Sestri Levante.
Hotel Miramare 4*
Day 5 - May 20: Cinque Terre
After breakfast you’ll reach Levanto by bus (about 45 minutes driving).
Meet the English speaking tour guide and short
walk though the town centre to the boat departure. At 10.00 am boat ride with the public boat
to Riomaggiore. During the boat ride of approx.
70 minutes you see the beautiful coastline from
the sea. It’s a unique landscape, formed by centuries of winegrowing on the terrace fields. Visit
of the village Riomaggiore and walk along the
famous “Via dell’Amore” to the next village Manarola (about 20 minutes easy walking). Enjoy the
breathtaking views over the steep coast and the
sea! Once arrived in Manarola you have lunch in a characteristic restaurant in the town
centre. The seafood menu includes 3 courses, water and ¼ l of local wine per person. After lunch you take a train back to Levanto. If there is enough time we can include a stop
in the village Vernazza and a short visit. Return by bus from Levanto to Sestri Levante.
Pesto lesson at the hotel. The chef of the hotel Miramare restaurant collaborates with the
most innovative wine grower of the Cinque Terre, Walter de Battè. We would like to offer
you a special tasting dinner at the
hotel restaurant combined with a wine tasting presented by Walter De Battè himself! The
4 courses of the gourmet menu will be accompanied by the best wines of Mr. De Battè
and he will give you all the explanations about his extraordinary wines. A really outstanding gourmet experience!

Day 6 - May 21: Franciacorta - Valpolicella
Depart for Valpolicella. Stop in Franciacorta for wine tasting.
Overnight at hotel.
Villa Quaranta 4*
Day 7 - May 22: Valpolicella
Departure to visit the Valpolicella area. Choose among Vallata
di Fumane, Vallata di Marano, Vallata di Negrar or Vallata di
Sant’Ambrogio.
Visit of a prominent winery along with wine tasting and lunch.
In the afternoon panoramic tour of the lakeshore and Bardolino.
Dinner in Bardolino. Return to the hotel.

Day 8 - May 23: Venice
Depart for Venice. Stop in Verona for a city visit.
Once you reach Venice transfer to the hotel by water taxi. Afternoon walking tour. Overnight at hotel.

Day 8 - May 24: Venice
Venice (optional tours)
Morning bike tour on Venice Lido. Pick up bicycles on the Lido
and follow the coastal road past famous hotels and the theatre
where the Film Festival is held every year. Proceed along the island
crossing the lagoon by vaporetto to the the Island of Pellestrina.
Lunch here before returning back to base later in the afternoon.
For those who don’t feel biking there are several options. One of
them is a morning tour to Murano, Burano and Torcello islands .
If you like contemporary art visit the famous Punta della Dogana
so called because it’s shaped like a triangular point separating the
Grand Canal and the Giudecca canal. Here you’ll find a permanent exhibition with works belonging to the ‘François Pinault
Collection’.
Farewell dinner. Overnight at hotel.

Day 9 - May 25: Departure
Transfer from hotel to the airport by water taxi.

BC Society for Educating Girls in Rural China (EGRC) was
founded in 2005. It is a registered Canadian charity. In 7 years
EGRC has raised funds and sponsored 286 young women from
impoverished rural areas of Gansu Province in Northwest China
to receive a university education.
Currently 170 students are in EGRC’s program and studying in
96 universities in over 30 cities throughout China. 116 students
graduated since 2009.
