fun-filled camp of outdoor adventures and indoor experiences with three locations to accommodate
your family. Our campers enjoy swimming, water safety
lessons, playgrounds, arts and crafts, archery, daily
devotionals, field trips, and so much more. These are
just some of the ways that the Prattville Y strives to
fulfill the YMCA’s mission of helping each child grow in
spirit, mind and body. Summer Camp 2016, “Calling All

Looking for a fun, late summer adventure for your children?
Well, climb on for this great experience opportunity with our
COPE Climbing Adventure Week. This summer, the Prattville
YMCA and the Tukabatchee Area Council of the Boy Scouts of
America are partnering together to offer a week of outdoor
experiences utilizing the COPE (Challenging Outdoor Personal
Experience) Climbing Course at Camp Tukabatchee.
The week will be centered around developing 7 different skill
sets including: Teamwork, Self Confidence, Trust, Leadership,
Communication, Decision Making, and Problem Solving. The
elements on the COPE course feature both low and high elements including low and high Climbing Wall, Rappelling Tower,
Zip Line, Giants Ladder, and various ground level stations
such as the Artesian Bridge, Trust Fall and Spider Web. Each
element is closely supervised by a BSA Certified Director and
carefully spotted or belayed to minimize danger while still
challenging individuals and the team safely. Camp Tukabatchee
is fully certified by the BSA National Camp Accreditation and
its COPE Course is certified for operation by the BSA and is
ACCT (Association for Challenge Course Technology) compliant. Camp includes extensive safety training and team building
activities, and transition into the full climbing experience as

SURVIVAL SWIMMING
LOCATION: Don M. Smith Branch Indoor Pool (365-8852)
Ages: 6 months-6 years
Infant Aquatics has developed a proven technique that teaches infants as young as 6 months
old to float and breathe, regardless of the water’s depth, for an indefinite amount of time. This
is more than your average swim lessons, these techniques are lifesaving. Not only will the child
be more confident in the water, it gives parents and caretakers peace of mind knowing that if
an accident does occur, their child has the skills to save themselves. For more information or to
register, contact Jeffrey Nichols at 375-2023 or [email protected]

THE Y.
MAKING A
DIFFERENCE.
Coach A Child Scholarship Fund Campaign
The Y makes strengthening our communities our cause. We do
this by offering affordable child care to families, providing youth
sports programs to children of all ages, helping adults who suffer
from arthritis, showing teenagers the importance of serving our
neighbor through volunteer work, teaching 2nd graders in our
county important water safety skills, and through so many other
programs that promote a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.
This year, about 13,000 people—nearly half of them children—
will come to our Y to learn, grow, and thrive. Of this number, we
will provide financial aid to over 3,000 individuals with a cost of
over $188,000.
This year our goal is to raise $160,000 through our Coach A Child
Scholarship Fund Campaign. We count on the generosity of our
members and partners to keep our doors open to whoever needs
a place to go to help them be more healthy, confident, connected,
and secure. Find out how you can help by calling, stopping by any
branch, or by donating online.

JOHN 17:21 SOCIETY
The John 17:21 Society was established in 2013 and is comprised of YMCA donors who believe in the mission
of the YMCA: To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and
body for all. These donors understand the impact of the YMCA is felt every day when an individual makes a
healthy choice, when a mentor inspires a child and when a community comes together for the common good. These donors demonstrate that belief by annually donating at least $1500 to the work of the Prattville YMCA.
