IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
The Australian Communications and Media Authority has
asked us to share this frequency with someone else who
wants to operate a community radio station. That means that
as of midnight on the 21st of August, todayscountry94one is
off air for as long as 3 months.
During this time we are still broadcasting on the web and will
be preparing to bring you a bigger and better todayscountry94one. But we need your support. Please sign up as a
friend or a member and help us keep our radio station on air
permanently.
We would also appreciate you taking the time to write to your
local, state and federal members to show your support for todayscountry94one. We are committed to bringing the Central
Coast the highest quality, permanent country music station

Gold Members’ Night Fundraiser @ Lizottes
The Gold Member’s night fundraiser held at Lizottes on the 17th September was a great
night and a great success. The night was held to raise much needed funds to assist us
in getting back onon-air, help the station to move to new premises and also pay the bills
while we’re offoff-air.
On the night, after a great meal from the kitchen at Lizottes, MC Prousty did a fabulous
job getting everyone warmed up and in the mood for the evening. The crowd were then
treated to performances by Brook McClymont, Gina Jeffreys and Adam Harvey who all
donated their time for the fundraising effort.
The main focus of the night was to raise some funds and we had a few great items to
auction. These included some framed handhand-written original lyrics from some of our
stars; a guitar from Fender and a guitar from Maton; an original test pressing of Slim
Dusty’s “Lights On The Hill”; and performances by Gina, Beccy Cole and Adam which
would be available at your home or workplace.
We were very fortunate to have the talents of radio personality Ray Hadley as our auctioneer and he managed to entertain the crowd as well as milk them for their hardhardearned money during the auction. With some wellwell-healed guests amongst the crowd
Ray managed to sell every item and earn us a great return.
todayscountry94one would like to thank all those who attended the night and made it
the success it was, as well as Brian Lizotte and the crew at his fabulous restaurant, and
the performers who donated their time and auction items for the fundraiser

Working Bee @ The Broadwater
First steps towards getting into our new premises were taken last weekend (17th &
18th October) when a crew of volunteers started cleaning and painting the rooms at
our new premises.
During our time offoff-air we have been working hard to get new premises organised
which will be much more spacious and more practical for our radio station. We have
been extremely fortunate to negotiate a lease with Gosford City Council for the old
Broadwater Hotel in Mann Street Gosford. This building has been utilised by various
community groups in offices on the lower floor and the upstairs accommodation
rooms have been unoccupied for some time. We have signed a lease for the upper
level, which has given us enough rooms to (eventually) create an onon-air studio, a production studio, a reception area, an administration office and staff facilities rooms.
Our working bee has succeeded in cleaning and painting the rooms prior to us ripping
up the carpet. The new (second(second-hand) carpet should be laid soon and then we’ll be
moving the station equipment to the new setset-up.
Thanks to all our volunteers who assisted over the weekend, especially “Alan the
Ambo” and the crew from Rotary who donated a chunk of their weekend for the station. There will be more work to do, so if you think you could help out drop us an email

In January Beccy Cole’s heartfelt and honest song, Poster Girl (Wrong Side of the World), swept all
before it to take out a remarkable three Golden Guitars at the CMAA Country Music Awards of Australia.
It won Beccy Single of the Year, Song of the Year and Female Artist of the Year, and has captured the
imagination and hearts of fans and industry figures alike for its powerful message of compassion and

Sara Storer Silver Skies
There are a number of songs instantly recognisable as being typical Sara Storer, including the first single Land Cries
Out, Back To The Territory, Crow and Sitting Here With Fay, but the balance of the material is concerned with matters
of the heart. Sara confesses to writing from a very personal place, which is why her songs have rung so true. Listen and
you may learn something of her journey over the two years that the songs were written, but don't take them to be autobiographical."You can create a lot of drama out of a small hiccup," Sara explains. "That is the fun in writing. People
may ask me questions about my personal life from hearing these songs and all I can say is, emotions are sometimes
too hard to ignore when writing about life. It's how truthful you get or how creative you can be when you get to pour out
emotions through music."
It would be wrong to suggest that Sara was not concerned about whether this subtle change in direction in Silver Skies
would alienate people, but she knew must stay true to her art. Ultimately Sara knew that is she couldn't please herself
then there was little likelihood she would be able to please anybody else
"There was a lot of discussions and a long thought process in the making of this album. I kept coming back to that saying 'keep it simple stupid.' For me that was to look at each song individually. Forget genres, forget what anyone else
expects and stick with what I think will work best with the song. Just because I'm country doesn't mean I have to stick
with country elements like having fiddle throughout the tracks to keep people happy. People will just have to understand it's a Sara Storer story and I want the music to be right for the song."
