Avon Justine iThemba Crusade for Hope
Avon Justine iThemba Mobile Breast Cancer Educational Units
In March 2001, Avon Justine launched the iThemba Crusade of
Hope to help spread education and awareness about breast
cancer across South Africa. iThemba is a Zulu word which means
“hope”. So far Avon Justine has raised in excess of R8.5 million
through the sale of iThemba products.
In 2009, iThemba launched a mobile breast cancer educational
unit in Sebokeng together with the Breast Health Foundation.
Another unit was launched in the Western Cape in 2010. The
units are staffed by community health educators who are breast
cancer survivors themselves. These units spread the message that
early detection saves lives through their community education
and awareness programme.
