General Wholesale Guide Product Description
General Wholesale Guide
Attractively packaged with great shelf-life!
Easy to keep – just water every few weeks and give a little light!
Product Description
The Bio-Dome (Pat. Pending) houses two Nepenthes plants in a coco-peat plug and incorporates a water reservoir,
thereby requiring minimal maintenance by the user. It just needs watering about once every 4 weeks and to be given
light. Fertilising is optional to speed growth if desired. The plants can be grown in the Bio-Dome for many months, or
even years, before requiring transplanting to a larger container.
For more information, please go to www.bio-domes.org .
The plant installed is currently the very vigorous Nepenthes cultivar, known as Nepenthes ‘Lady Luck’ in some
territories and Nepenthes ‘Bloody Mary’ in others. Plant Breeders Rights are applied for. This cultivar grows well in
temperatures ranging from 10 deg C to 35 deg C and will tolerate temperatures outside this range. We will be
introducing 4 new Nepenthes cultivars with different appearance to Nepenthes ‘Lady Luck’, commencing June 2014
and more again later in 2014. Please ask for further details from [email protected] . Some of them will
be available as “Combo Packs” housing two different-looking Nepenthes cultivars in the same unit at the same price.

Minimum Order Quantity for Test Sales
Minimum Order Quantity is just 48 units (one tray of 48 units at 2 plants per unit – 96 plants). These can be sent to
you by Express Mail (EMS) which is a door-to-door service. The per-unit cost of such a small quantity sent by EMS is
quite high but it will allow you to try out Bio-Domes and test-market them. We can also send by EMS in batches of
96 units and 192 units, as trial quantities at lower per-unit cost. The pricelist for sending trial shipments to your
country by EMS can be supplied as a separate document upon request.
Packaging consisting of plastics (reservoir, plant mounting plate and dome) and cardboard hanger are sent by EMS
one week in advance of the plants and include 4% extra quantity free of charge. Carrier bags may also be ordered as
an optional extra but due to their weight they put up the EMS costs (see pricelist as separate document).
Plants are supplied in very well insulated boxes. The MOQ is 48 units consisting of 2 plants per coco-peat pellet but
more economically they can be sent in batches of 96 or 192 units.

Store at room temperature, ideally between 15 deg C and 23 deg C.
For best results, plants need to be assembled into the packaging within 2 weeks of receipt.
Shelf-life after assembled and under typical shop condition is between 2 and 4 weeks.
Shelf life of assembled units can be extended to several months if kept on shelves equipped with fluorescent
lights. Please contact us for technical guidance.

Assembly of Bio-Dome Units
Assembly is very simple and takes less than 30 seconds per unit. There is an instructional video on this at www.biodomes.org or on our Facebook page linked from our website. Here is a description of the process, with photos taken
from a real life situation: the 2013 RHS Hampton Court Flower show in London, where Bio-Domes were assembled in
real-time as they were sold to the public:
1) Firstly water is added to the reservoir unit.
2) Then the inner plate is dropped into place.
3) The plant is then plugged into the hole in the inner plate
which holds it snugly.
4) Then the top dome is clipped on. We supply a tool essential
to this process, which holds the reservoir unit and makes it
easy to clip the dome in place. This can be seen in the photo.
The unit is then placed into the cardboard hanger, which is folded up and held in place with two staples, although
for ease of transportation we recommend that the cardboard hanger is not fitted until the unit is placed in the sales
outlet.
If direct marketing, such as mail-order is required, unit can be sent without cardboard hanger and without water in
the reservoir.

Shop Display Racking
We are able to design assemble and supply bespoke shop display racking, or it may be more economical for the
racking to be designed and assembled in the country where the plants are being marketed. The key factor is that if
the plants are well-lit, with fluorescent tubes mounted just a few cm above the top of the packaging, the shelf life
will be several months as they will continue to grow whilst in the shop. Watering needs to be done about once every
3-4 weeks by simply pouring a set amount of water through the hole in the top of the dome. There is no need to
remove any packaging to do this.
In our trials we have found it most practical to transport the plants to the sales outlet in the domes but with the
cardboard hanger not yet fitted. The hanger can be fitted very quickly in the sales outlet as the units are placed on
the shelves.
We are happy to assist marketing by supplying a range of artwork for you to use freely.
