Fall is just around the corner and we have
some fun events coming up! Included in this
newsletter are updates on our projects and
the fantastic volunteers that make them
possible.

Defense Contractor IOMAXIS Supports Veterans Build
IOMAXIS, a Virginia-based defense
contractor, has donated $25,000 to sponsor
the inaugural Veterans Build home for a
local veteran family.
This generous donation happened in
response to the story that was recently
published in the Free Lance-Star. After the
article was released, Habitat received a call
from IOMAXIS expressing their interest to get involved in helping our
veteran families.
After learning more about Fredericksburg Habitat's programs, IOMAXIS
CEO Brad Buhr agreed to be the largest sponsor of the Veterans Build to
date, by committing to a $25,000 donation.
Mr. Buhr wants to challenge other defense contractors in the area to
help build homes for veteran families before Nov. 11, when
Fredericksburg Habitat plans to break ground on the inaugural
home. With their help, the Veterans Build program can transform the
lives of local veterans in need of safe, decent, and affordable housing.
Mary Beth Rich Wins Allen & Allen Hometown Heroes
Award
Women Build Chair Mary Beth Rich was recently recognized as a
Hometown Hero by Allen & Allen.
This competitive award recognizes her substantial contribution to the
greater Fredericksburg community, and the extraordinary skills and hard
work she brings to Fredericksburg Habitat.

28] is in her second term as
Women Build Chair and leads
a team of local phenomenal
volunteers. Women Build
dedicated their first home
and is currently raising funds
for a second. Women Build
homes are built primarily by
female volunteers.

Mary Beth is involved through
many community projects in
addition to being a successful
REALTOR® at Century 21-
Executive Director Tom Carlson says, "Mary Beth is truly a Hometown
Hero! Her leadership, team building expertise and her compassion for
our partner families have truly made a difference in our community."

Thank you to Our ReStore Volunteers!
Thanks to many fantastic summer
volunteers, our new office and ReStore
are almost complete! When we move
from our current space to this new
25,000 sq. ft. space, the ReStore's
revenue will increase. This means our
home build and repair program will be
able to serve many more families in the
Fredericksburg area!

My Brother's Keeper
The sun was beating down hard on a recent
Monday morning, when nearly a dozen
volunteers from Lifepoint Church climbed on
top of Mrs. Ford's roof to pour our sweat - and
unconditional love! - as they repaired the roof
of her home. Mrs. Ford and her daughter, who
is an Army veteran, have lived in their home since her husband built it in
the '60s, but have had difficulty keeping up with repairs since Mrs. Ford's
husband passed away.
Volunteers and homeowner all worked together to make sure Mrs. Ford
and her family have a dry safe place to live for years to come. Jason
Tickle, Director of Operations for Fredericksburg Habitat, stated, "When
you look at the news and see all the chaos happen around the world, it
is easy to forget there are people with real needs right in our own
backyard. It is a real joy to see people in the community step up to help
serve their neighbors, we are glad we get to offer that opportunity."
We are currently seeking additional homeowners that need help with
repairs and upkeep. Homeowners must be low-income and preference
is given to the elderly and/or disabled. If your neighbor or someone you
know needs some help with home repairs please have them contact
us.
We can do everything from simple fall yard work like cleaning out
gutters, to major repairs, like roof work or handicap ramps. We have a
very ambitious goal to help as many families in need home repairs this

Agora Coffee Shop & the ReStore
Agora Downtown Coffee Shop is
where friends and family gather
to enjoy a cup of coffee at a
home away from home.
Located at 520 Caroline St.,
Agora is family-owned coffee
shop run by Andi and MJ Stone
that opened May 22, 2015. To
put together their business in an
affordable and environmentally
responsible way, they shopped
heavily at the ReStore!
"We try to create a family-run atmosphere so when people come in the
door, we don't see them as customers, we see them as our guests. We
want them to realize we are in the business of hospitality, not profit," said
MJ Stone.
Home is exactly what guests feel as they walk through the renovated
home that was furnished by the ReStore.
"We went to the ReStore about three times a week for 10 months
straight. We ended saving so much money on hardware accessories
that probably would've added up extensively," said Stone.
Agora purchased kitchen cabinets, metal chasing, plumbing
equipment, cabinet handles and even an oddly-sized door that the
sisters could only find at the ReStore. And all the proceeds went directly
towards helping families in the local area!

Volunteers of the Quarter
Habitat Volunteer of the Quarter: Jamie DeLorme
Our fall volunteer of the quarter is Jamie DeLorme, co-chair of the
Veterans Build Task Force (pictured at far right, next to Habitat supporter
Sally Struthers).
Jamie has worked incredibly hard over the past nine months to raise
awareness and funds for the inaugural
Veterans Build home. She recently hosted
a Virtual 5K that raised more than three
thousand dollars for the project, thanks to
many generous local runners and a
sponsorship from Old Navy in Central
Park.
Jamie can often be found at events for
Veterans Build, or hard at work in the
office coordinating a number of projects
to support the first home. We're very lucky
to have her and glad to present her as
volunteer of the quarter!
ReStore Volunteer of the Quarter: the
Lepp Family
For this trio, volunteering runs in the
family! Meet Andy (pictured third from
the right) and Carol Lepp and their son,
Chris (far right).
Andy and Carol have been ReStore
volunteers for several years, and Chris
has recently joined them.
ReStore Director Cindy Miller says, "Carol
does a fabulous job of pricing, providing
customer service and organizing the
ReStore. Andy keeps our computers
running and maintains all our technology here, but has also completely
wired our new store and office location! He is our go-to tech guy! I
could go on and on about him. Chris designed our donation receipt
and drop-off system, and is currently programming our new point-of-sale
system. Andy and Chris have saved us so much money and have
helped us operate more efficiently."
We are certainly grateful for the Lepps and all they do for Greater
Fredericksburg Habitat for Humanity!
Thrivent Houses the Habonimana Family
Many financial firms talk about helping the less fortunate, but then there
are those who take the initiative to get involved! Recently Thrivent
Financial became Fredericksburg Habitat's largest single donor by
awarding us an $80,000 Thrivent Build Grant. Progress on the Thrivent
home is picking up as permits and site prep is finalized.
This grant will allow our organization to house a very hardworking and
deserving family - the Habonimanas - in
their first home by Christmas. We are glad
to partner with Thrivent, the Habonimanas
and the several hundred volunteers we
will work with over the next three months
to make homeownership a reality for the
Habonimanas. If you would like to
