On Thursday, January 20, a number of students from SCA’s 11 th grade
class traveled to Bethesda Mission in Harrisburg to serve and support
its ministry.
Students spent the day sorting through boxes of donated items to be
distributed to those in need. The class worked hard and displayed a
servant’s heart. It was a great experience and the students look forward to other opportunities to serve in the future.
Thank you, 11th grade, for serving and reflecting God’s heart in this
way.
~Mrs. Vonnie Campbell

Young American
~ Teacher Spotlight ~
We are pleased to announce that Torri Erdman
has been selected SCA’s February “Young Americans.” Students are chosen based on academic accomplishments, community involvement and leadership
skills. Please look for more information about Torri
and other local “Young Americans” in an upcoming
edition of the Daily Item. Congratulations, Torri!
Mrs. “D” Debra Drumheller has been at SCA
since 1999, serving in several different capacities.
Her current role is that of Kindergarten teacher,
one she’s held since 2010. Mrs. D and her husband, David, have 2 adult children, April and David, both SCA graduates. She also has 2 granddaughters and a grandson on the way! Mrs. D enjoys arts and crafts and being with her grandkids.
Below are a few of Mrs. Drumheller’s favorites:
School Closings and Delays
Go to WNEP.com for school closing, delays,
etc., or listen to the following radio or television
stations:
WPGM-FM, WKOK-AM, WEGH-FM,
WQKX-FM, WGRC-FM, WYGL-AM, WNEP,
WYOU, AND WBRE. SCA follows the Shikellamy
School District closing and delays. If the district you
live in doesn’t have school, and SCA does, your child
will receive an excused absence if he/she cannot get to
school.
On rare occasions, SCA may delay or close
even when Shikellamy does not.
Please check
WNEP.com or tune in to radio/TV stations around
6:15 am on questionable days.
When inclement weather begins after students
have arrived at school, please check WNEP.com or
tune in to radio/TV stations for early dismissals. All
districts will follow their individual schedules and the
time for dismissal may vary. If your child rides a bus,
please be prepared for your child to arrive home early
on these days. If your child is a car-rider, please arrange for your child to be picked up at SCA’s early
dismissal time. If the weather in your area is getting
bad, you may come and get your child, even if
Shikellamy hasn’t dismissed early.
Dessert - chocolate cake with peanut butter icing
Pastime - arts and crafts and being with her grandkids
Scripture passage - Proverbs 16:3
Mrs. Drumheller enjoys singing very loudly while driving—that is, when she’s by herself!
Mrs. D’s favorite thing about teaching kindergarten
is the funny things her students say and watching
their eyes light up when they learn something new
One of her favorite historical figures is Moses—he
never thought he could do the great things God asked
of him because of his speech, but he accomplished
much
Re-Enrollment

year will be coming home with students shortly. If
you have not yet received one, please contact the

carefully as there are changes in tuition and curriculum
fees. Early re-enrollment is due February 27; after that

Spring Sports Coaches Needed
“Habitats Are Where It’s At!”
The SCA Athletic Department is currently
seeking coaches and assistants for the upcoming track
and elementary basketball seasons. If you have a
strong desire to help our student athletes participate in
sports with a Christ-like attitude and respect for the
sport, please contact Athletic Director Steven Schroth
at 570-473-3886 or email [email protected].
Second grade students are enjoying their study
of science! The class recently finished the study of
animals and plants and their habitats. While learning
about habitats, students read books about different animals, and were able to hold an animal puppet to go
with each book. As an ending project each student got
to choose an animal and make a shoebox diorama to
depict their habitat. The students did an impressive job
with their habitat projects.
