Harmony Public Schools' Policy regarding New Texas Firearm Law
January 03, 2016
Dear Parents and Guardians,
This is a message from Harmony Public Schools in regards to our policy on weapons
in our campuses and facilities. HB 910 went into effect on January 1, 2016 which now
allows a license holder to openly carry a handgun in a shoulder or belt holster rather
than concealing the weapon.
However, under state law, school buildings will continue to be prohibited areas.
Pursuant to this, regardless of whether a weapon is carried concealed or openly
holstered, it will not be allowed:




inside a Harmony building and facility
at school-sponsored events on or off school property
on a school transportation vehicle
at Harmony Public Schools Board meetings
For the safety of our students, staff, and visitors; our schools and facility will remain
weapon-free. Should you have questions or concerns, please contact your campus
administrators.
Thank you for your support and we wish you and your family a joyous new year.
