JUDGES
Leslie Joy Ickowitz, VERTICAL, Publisher & Creative Director
Leslie possesses a passionate spirit devoted to exploring
possibilities. Her unique perspectives have earned her the
reputation as an authority on the “Lifestyle Experience.” With
VERTICAL, she raises the bar for cultural awareness. For
VERTICAL Tampa Bay, it's easy (and oh, so fabulous) being
green! Without adding paper and printing chemicals to the
environment, VERTICAL delivers an interactive experience for readers to engage
with captivating content. Flipping pages and live links to advertised and featured
Web sites, create the instant gratification we all lust for, without harming our
precious planet.
An avid world traveler, Leslie understands that the meaning of life lies in the
journey. With appreciation for the beauty that surrounds her, she seeks
opportunities to make a difference in her community, inspires others to achieve
their potential, to get VERTICAL...and to be part of something fabulous!
Katie Machol, Creative Loafing, Green Community Editor
Katie Machol didn’t exactly start out “green”- she graduated
from culinary school in Fall 2008 and wanted to pursue a
career in food writing and styling, thus ending up at Creative
Loafing as a food contributor. She became the editor of CL's
Green Community section in April 2009. She has always been
into healthy eating/lifestyles and is interested in the organic, sustainable, and locallygrown food movements, as well as the many new green ideas and practices that putting the Green site together has opened her eyes to.
Stephanie Hayes, St. Petersburg Times, Deal Diva
Stephanie Hayes is a reporter for tbt* and the St. Petersburg
Times, covering pop culture, fashion, trends, nightlife, that
weird guy on your street — and how they all intersect to
shape our lives. She also blogs about fashion for the Times'
style blog, Deal Divas. She started writing for the Times in 2003,
covering everything from suburban politics to zoning to snack foods to Britney
Spears. She wrote the Times' feature obituary column, Epilogue, before becoming
a general assignment news and feature reporter. She grew up near Cleveland and
graduated from St. Petersburg College and the University of South Florida.
