114 Head of Outstanding Red & White Holstein,
Milking Shorthorn and Composite Dairy Cattle 114
NOTE: This is a very good herd of large frame, especially well uddered herd of fancy Red & White
Holstein, Shorthorn and Composite dairy cattle. According to records of milk sold, the herd average
is approximately 2X 19,000 pounds of milk, 4.0% 760 fat and 3.3% 627 Protein, SCC 200,000. No
BST or TMR mixer in use. Many cows are recently fresh or due soon after sale time. Many first and
second lactation. All cows milked in tie-stall facility. Very good herd health program with all cattle
vaccinated and boosted seasonally. Hooves trimmed regularly. Bred cows and heifers have had
Scour Guard vaccinations. The Molitors have used artificial breeding on all cows since they began
farming along with registered Red & White herd sires from leading area herds to breed heifers. AI
sires and service sires include: Cole Red, Persia, Debonair, Altra Red, Matrix Red, Magenta, Toto,
Snoopy, Atwell and Dallas, among others. The herd includes primarily Red & White Holsteins with
a nice number of Milking Shorthorns, including beautiful Red & Blue Roans. Along with a great
group of mature females, we offer a fancy set of large frame springing, bred and open heifers that
will be as good as any sold this season. If you are in need of fancy, home raised, farm fresh herd
replacements, and not just any kind will do, we strongly urge you to take time from the fields and
take advantage of this rare opportunity to purchase Red & Whites in volume. Thank you!

(StatePoint) In cool weather, wise homeowners will
take steps to ensure their homes are well-prepared.
There are a number of ways you can keep your home
comfortable and your energy bills in check all season.
Is your heating equipment working optimally or are
you wasting energy and paying more than you should?
It is estimated that nearly half of all heating and
cooling equipment in U.S. homes never performs to
its advertised capacity and efficiency due to incorrect
installation, according to U.S. government statistics.
And if you have an older system that was built before
current efficiency standards, you could be spending
more than needed on heating your home.
If you need to replace your system, be sure to have it
properly installed by an HVACR professional, certified
by North American Technician Excellence (NATE), the
nation’s largest independent, nonprofit certification
body for HVACR technicians. NATE-certified technicians are skilled professionals who have proven their
knowledge in the HVACR industry by passing specialized certification tests.
Beyond having an efficient heating system properly
installed, there are several other steps you can take to
make your home cool-weather friendly:
• Clean heating filters. Check them every couple of
weeks and change them at least twice in the season, or
as directed by the manufacturer.
• Check and maintain insulation. Improperly insulated walls, floors, attics, basements and crawlspaces
drain away heat and can also lead to moisture imbalance. Adding weather stripping and caulk around windows and doors can also improve a home’s insulation.
• Turn down the thermostat or install a programmable thermostat to regulate temperature.
• Clean the furnace area. Don’t keep chemicals or
cleaning products near a heater, and don’t store anything next to it that could impede ventilation.
• Keep vents and returns free of obstructions. Don’t
lay carpet over vents, place furniture over or in front of
them, or obstruct the flow of air.
• Dry air feels cooler than moist air, so install a humidifier. A simple humidifier may make the home feel
five degrees warmer than a home with dry air.
• Look into geothermal heating systems. By using
the earth`s natural heat, these systems are among the
most efficient and energy-conserving heating and cooling technologies currently available.
• Have your system serviced regularly for optimal
performance. To avoid poor service and scams, be sure
to hire an HVACR professional certified by NATE. To
find a qualified local contractor who employs certified
technicians, look for the NATE logo or go to HVACRAdvice.com.

Minnesota grapes stomp out the competition
Before you head out to the vineyard this fall, get to know our cold
climate grapes! These varieties can
withstand even a Minnesota winter and create delicious local wines
available across the state.
Get to know Frontenac: The first
of the University of Minnesota’s
cold climate grapes was introduced
in 1995. It’s ability to withstand
Minnesota winters and resistance
to disease have made it a popular
variety for vineyards across the
state. Blackberry, black current and
plum flavors compliment a cherry
aroma. Look for Frontenac grapes
as port, rose and both dry and sweet
red wine.
Get to know Marquette: With
Marquette grapes, it’s all relative. This cultivar is a descendent
of Pinot Noir and cousin to U of
M’s Frontenac. Flavors and scents
include a combination of cherry,
berry, black pepper and spice. It is
commonly used to produce a medium-bodied red table wine found in
high demand for local wineries.
Get to know La Crescent: A little
more than ten years ago, La Crescent was born as a hybrid of grapes
including St. Pepin. This grape is
typically used to make off-dry or
sweet white wines. The University
of Minnesota compares it to a Riesling, noting apricot, peach and citrus to be present.
Get to know Frontenac Gris:
Expect hints of peach and apricot, as in the La Crescent, as you
swirl the glass. Then take a sip and
experience tropical and citrus flavors. Frontenac Gris, the relative of
Frontenac, was introduced in 2003
and has risen in popularity since.

Tips to help make wood
staining simpler
(StatePoint) Are you
staining your deck, fencing or outdoor furniture?
Before you start any staining project, make sure the
wood surface has been
properly prepared.
Pick a day to work that
is between 50 and 90 degrees and when cold or
wet weather is not expected within 48 hours.
Re m e m b e r, a s t a i n ing project can be labor
intensive, particularly
if you’re working on a
large surface. To reduce
your project time, team
up with a friend. You can
speed the process by an
estimated 32 percent by
having one person use a
roller to apply a layer of
stain while the other person uses a brush to go
over it, according to Flood
Wood Care.
By using a brush attached to a pole, you can
avoid bending over in a
way that is stressful to
your back and knees.
For help picking a deck
stain or wood stain, and
for more tips and advice,
visit www.Flood.com.
Wood staining is crucial for protecting siding,
outdoor furniture, playsets and decks from damage and deterioration. By
following a few simple
tricks, you can make this
necessary task a bit easier.
