The Evil That Men Do (1984) [90 min.]
A musical version of Mark Twain’s classic novel? Yes! It’s
charming and delightful, especially Warren Oates’ “A Man’s
Gotta Be What He’s Born to Be”. Relive childhood memories or
introduce children to this timeless adaptation of one of America’s
finest novels. Starring Johnny Whitaker as Tom Sawyer and
Jodie Foster as Becky Thatcher, the girl Tom has a crush on.
Famed songwriters the Sherman Brothers provide the music.

Directed by J. Lee Thompson
In the execution of justice, there’s no executioner like Charles Bronson.
In one of Chuck’s most notoriously seedy ‘80s actioners, he plays a
former CIA assassin pulled out of retirement to avenge the death of
a friend at the hands of a sadistic doctor in a Latin American torture
facility. But as he starts to pick off bad guys one by one, he discovers
a brutal trail of political corruption that could lead to the very top.
Saturday • September 10
Murphy’s Law (1986) [100 min.]
Directed by J. Lee Thompson
Don’t mess with Jack Murphy! He’s a cop, she’s a thief…and together
they’re running for their lives across the streets of Los Angeles!
Framed for a crime he didn’t commit, Charles Bronson is handcuffed
to Witchboard’s Kathleen Wilhoite with both the police and a crazed
killer hot on their heels. With nowhere left to turn, they must rely on
each other to find the real murderer before it’s too late.
September 10 & 11 at 2:00pm

Directed by J. Lee Thompson
This delightful musical adaptation of Mark Twain’s beloved novel
begins where The Adventures of Tom Sawyer left off. Produced by
Arthur P. Jacobs (Planet of the Apes series) and co-written by the
Sherman Brothers (Mary Poppins, Snoopy Come Home), the film
stars Jeff East as Huck Finn and Paul Winfield as the slave Jim.
Seeking adventure and an escape from his no-good father, Huck
rafts down the Mississippi River, where he is joined by his friend
Jim. Amazing adventures and a cast of crazy characters await them!
September 17 & 18 at 2:00pm
Follow That Bird (1985) [89 min.]
Directed by Ken Kwapis
Saturday • September 17
Death Wish 4: The
Crackdown (1987) [99 min.]
Directed by J. Lee Thompson
Our favorite architect turned vigilante is back with a vengeance and this
time the one man wrecking crew has declared war on the scourge of
crack cocaine. After his new girlfriend’s daughter dies of an overdose,
Charles Bronson embarks on a vicious takedown of the Los Angeles
narcotics trade, dealing death to the drug pushers that plague the streets
on his violent crusade against the organized crime cartels behind it all.
Thinking a bird should be with his own kind, meddling social
worker Miss Finch takes Big Bird away from Sesame Street and
plops him down in Illinois with a bird family. Big Bird longs for
his real home back in New York, though, and runs away. Along his
journey (on foot, as he doesn’t fly) he is met and helped by all our
favorites, including Kermit, Oscar the Grouch, Bert & Ernie, the
Cookie Monster, the Count (in a rad Countmobile) and more! Guest
stars include Chevy Chase, John Candy and Sandra Bernhard.
September 24 & 25 at 2:00pm
Time Bandits (1981) [113 min.]
Saturday • September 24
Messenger of Death (1988) [91 min.]
Directed by J. Lee Thompson
What the cops can’t do, HE WILL. When a family is brutally massacred
in their own home, a no-nonsense crime reporter (Charles Bronson)
must cut through bureaucratic BS on a relentless quest to bring the
killer to justice. But unraveling the mystery reveals a dangerous web
of greed, corruption and religious retribution in an isolated Mormon
sect, and an avenging angel will do anything to silence him.

Join us for Art House Theater Day, which celebrates art houses
and the role they play in the community. Time Bandits, the 1980
fantasy-adventure classic from Monty Python member Terry Gilliam,
will be one of the films featured on screens throughout the U.S.
Kevin, an 11-year old boy with a big imagination and pre-occupied
parents, has the adventure of a lifetime when a group of dwarves
burst out of his closet door carrying a very important map they
stole from the Supreme Being. The dwarves find that Kevin’s wall
can be pushed open to expose an empty void, which they all jump
into as they embark on an epic journey through space and time.
