Jim Bedard
IN MEMORIAM
1938-2013
The industry lost one of its finest this past
September with the passing of Jim Bedard,
of Zurich, Ontario.
“Jimmy” wore a lot of hats with pride; devoted
father, loving husband, beloved friend and
General Manager at Northlander.
For 49 years, Jim Bedard watched over
Northlander. His enthusiasm for the business, determination, loyalty and
leadership skills were unmatched. He helped lead Northlander to
become the innovative and quality manufacturer it is today.
Jim’s lasting legacy will be his love for the people he worked with,
and his pride in the product we build every day.
Northlander was “family” to Jim. Unfortunately, his health forced him
to retire in July, 2011, yet he regularly visited the office, maintaining
relationships with staff and suppliers. Knowing Jim’s interest in sports
and his love for people, the following quote seems appropriate:
“Even when you’ve played the game of your life, it’s the feeling of
teamwork that you’ll remember. You’ll forget the plays, the shots, and the

In 1964 a fresh-faced boxer named Cassius Clay shocked the world, upsetting the
unbeatable Sonny Liston to become world heavyweight boxing champion.
That same year Northlander Industries “knocked out” its first customized trailer.
Back in the day...
A constant with Northlander has been
the company’s adaptability. Styles and
tastes change. Technology and
building techniques evolve. Hammers
have been replaced with nail guns,
blueprints with CAD, and customized
cabinetry has gone high-tech with the
latest in CNC equipment for precision
and quality. You’re not buying a
cottage. You’re buying a Northlander.
It is spacious, functional, sleek and
