From the President:
Hi Folks,
It’s crazy weather we are having, warm then it’s cold.
I’m glad to see the leaves are coming out, finally.
It was a rainy day at the Civil War Show in Mansfield
on 5/1. I got to see a lot of people from the club.
I don’t know if I’ll be vending at Findlay this year. Miriam had surgery on
5/2 and will be having another surgery in 2 weeks. I’m planning on being at
the meeting on Saturday. It depends on how Miriam is doing, if she will come
with me.
Hope to see you at all shows throughout the year. If you have any questions feel free to contact myself or one of the other officers.
Your president,
Alan Kisling
From the Vice President:
Hello OMP Family ,
Well we had a great turnout at our April meeting here in
Springfield, It was nice seeing everyone! Thanks to everyone who brought food and/or a vehicle out!
We also have our first local events this month in the
Springfield Area, one at Snowhill school for their History
Club and one at Northwestern School which is having a Veterans event.
Hands on history makes such an impact on the kids!
Our next club meeting is on May 20-22nd at Findlay Armed Forces
Day. Meeting time is Saturday at noon in the grandstands. This is the largest
show in the Midwest and is a great time for everyone!
Also please remember to participate in your local Memorial day parade on
May 30th to honor our fallen Veterans. Please look over all of the upcoming
meeting dates and events in the 2016 Tool Crib Calendar. Also remember to
support the MVPA with your membership.
I look forward to seeing you all soon!
God Bless…
Mike Spradlin
From the Secretary/Editor:
It may not feel like it but winter is over. Hopefully at Armed
Forces Day celebration is gets a bit warmer and not RAIN!
We had a great time at Mike Spradlin’s meeting last month. It
is always nice seeing the Southern Ohio bunch. Come to find out some of the SOG had to leave early
as they were attending the wedding of Garry Andrews and Nancy Jones. We’re so glad they finally got
a date to tie the knot. Hopefully we see them at Armed Forces Weekend so we can congratulate them in person! Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Andrews! We are hearing wedding bells in Southern Ohio for another couple. More on that
later.
Please check out the Calendar of Events. It is really jammed packed this year with wonderful events in areas all
over the state (and out of state). There are many weekend that have multiple events but we hope members can take
time to attend when and where they can. Especially on Memorial Day, 4th of July, Veterans Day we hope you can help
whenever needed.
Keep in mind that our Shiloh show is coming up, June 17 & 18. This would be a great weekend for a family outing.
We also will be having the culinary expertise of our Michigan members, Steve Koenig and Ben Lapinski for our Friday
night potluck/meeting. Gonna be a great time!
Remember the next meeting will be May 21st, noon, Hancock Co. Fairgrounds at the bleachers. Hopefully we have
representatives from different events come and give us updates on their events. If you have any questions, it is easier
to ask a representative of that show. This is always our largest meeting and this is one of the reasons. Also, we like
seeing members we don’t see very often so stop by the OMP tent and say HI. Other than during the meeting, there is
always someone there.

"What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one
more word, one more touch. We may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or
why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too
beautiful to forget"

This year we’ll be looking back at
some firsts. We started to have our annual meeting and trail rides around Mohican June 18, 2005. Below are pictures of that ride taken by Ann W.
Back row - Don Winegardner, Tom Bechley, Bob
Stull, Diane Stull, Roy Anderson, Tom Price, David
Steensen, David Pizzoferrato Sandra & John Davis.
Sitting by pole, Alyce Anderson, Joy Price, Donna
Pizzoferrato. Kids were Emily & Allison Pizzoferrato and one of the boys is John & Sandra Davis’s
son and I think the other is Ben Bechley (Ben this
little???). The photo was taken by Ann so wasn’t in
the photo. Others attending that day were Ian &
Linda Wallace with grandson Andrew, Peggy & Samantha Bechley, Robert & David Swanger and Tom’s dad Buzz Bechley. Buzz attended quite a few rides and really enjoyed himself at this event.
