SHINING STARS!
N
ational Volunteer week was April 10-16th here in
Canada. Meals On Wheels (Sudbury) recognized
the many priceless and amazing volunteers who
dedicate so much of their time to our organization.
We held our 5th Annual Gala Breakfast where we
provided some delicious food to start their day, as
well as recognized 4 outstanding individuals for their
contributions over the past year.
Montana is an amazing youth volunteer who often
spends his PA days with us. He assists other volunteers
in delivering meals to our clients as well as helping with
various tasks around our office.
Micheal is another amazing youth volunteer who gives
a lot of his time. He helps our kitchen staff in preparing
the food for our clients.
Leanne is an office volunteer who at times volunteers
with us 4 days a week! She is amazing at helping with
office duties and is ready to assist with anything.
Todd is one who is continually around when we need a
hand. He is always offering his time to do more for us as
we need.
Thank you to all of our volunteers for everything that
you do for Meals On Wheels (Sudbury). We can never
say it enough!!
CLIENT TESTIMONIAL
Knowing that my 87 year old mother has such lovely meals delivered, not
only to her door, but right to her kitchen table - with a cheerful greeting gives me such a great comfort. I call my Mom at least once a week (I live in
the UK) and she never fails to talk about what she's had to eat that day. She
treats each meal as a 'surprise'. She always says how lucky she is that she
doesn't have to cook every day. Such a small price for me to pay for such a
wonderful service provided by a hugely dedicated team of volunteers who
care about what they do! Thank you for making me feel reassured.

will be running until the fall. We will be selling Vesey’s
Bulbs! These are a variety of flower bulbs that you
plant in the fall for bloom the following spring. The
bulbs include flowers such as tulips, daffodils, and
much more, making them a beautiful addition to your
garden.
VOLUNTEER AWARDS
ONTARIO VOLUNTEER
SERVICE AWARDS
CIVIC AWARD FOR VOLUNTEERISM
The Civic Awards for Volunteerism within Greater Sudbury
took place on April 14th. Our volunteer Rachelle Merrick
was recognized for her dedication to us for the past 18
years! She delivers meals to the Nickel Centre area of
town at least once a week, often volunteering on short
notice. Rachelle enjoys giving her time to us as she feels it
is a fantastic way to give back to the community.
May 26th marked the day when volunteers in Greater
Sudbury were recognized by the Ontario government
for the impact they have in our community. It was a
wonderful evening, seeing the many individuals being
recognized for their commitment. Meals On Wheels
(Sudbury) was proud to have several volunteers receive
a pin for their dedication to our organization.
