Your Leadership
The peace of Christ be with you all as we celebrate
the 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time! Fr. Ned will be
the celebrant this Sunday and as he sometimes
chooses, he will be preaching the 13th Chapter of
Luke verses 10-21, rather than the regularly
scheduled Gospel. I’m thinking he’s going to talk
about the Kingdom of God, but you’ll have to
come and find out for sure.
A little more news about our beloved Fr. Ned, he
will be heading off for his regular summer break to
Chicago on August 3rd. Ned will be visiting with
his family and friends in Chicago for a few weeks!
He always finishes with a few days in Milwaukee
for their famous Irish Festival! Let’s all wish him a
wonderful trip and we can give him a special
traveler’s blessing as well after Mass this Sunday!
And finally, it is with such sadness that we
remember those killed in Spain this week in a
terrible train accident. Ironically, many pilgrims
were en-route from Madrid to Santiago to celebrate
the Feast of St. James, the Patron Saint of Spain on
July 25, 2013. The latest toll said over 80 were
killed and over 100 injured. One American is
among the dead. Please keep them and their
families in your prayers.

A Great Big Thank
You to all those
who brought
bottled water for
the street folk and
homeless of the
Coachella Valley!
After Mass last Sunday, Fr. Ned, Shelley
Somerville and Rev. Joni loaded up the
water and went out to the streets offering
cold water to ease the parched throats of
those folks out in the summer heat.
Thanks for all the donations! Let’s do it
again next month! 3rd Sunday bring your
donations. We will deliver! God Bless!

“Love isn’t Love Till You Give it Away”
It’s a good feeling to have
some money to give away to
those most in need. I am
referring to $1400.00 that our
Mid-Valley Interfaith Council
has collected over the years.
The funds had been laying
dormant in a bank account.
The bank said such accounts
could be charged for inactivity!
It was just the “kick” we needed to share the
generous gifts to us, with other churches and
Church projects. It makes me and other
members of the Council feel pretty darn good to
spread the funds as “seeds” in a way that makes
it a “win-win” situation. Hence, we divided the
$1400.00 three ways, The Coachella Valley
Rescue Mission, Martha’s Village, and Angel
Light Academy.
As we shared with other needy Council friends,
we felt pretty joyful to be in the position of giver
instead of taker.
In short, our Council is doing fine, the comembers are wonderful and delightful, the way
it is supposed to be. All is well.
The Mid-Valley Interfaith Council meets the first
Tuesday of the month October through May. All
are encouraged to join us. Pathfinder
Community of the Risen Christ will be hosting
the October meeting! I hope you all can come.
See you on Sunday!!
Be well!

never said to the Earth, 'You owe me.' Look
what happens with love like that. It lights
up the sky.” ~Rumi
