1. Source information
Republic of Armenia is situated in western part of Asia. The country occupies the northeastern part of Armenian plateau – between Caucasus and Nearest Asia (the inter-river territory
between the middle flows of Kur and Araks rivers). In the north and east it borders with Georgia
and Azerbaijan, and in the west and south with Turkey and Iran. The country occupies 29743
km2 areas.
The administrative division base of the Republic of Armenia (RA) is the RA Law “On
administrative and territorial division of RA”, which was passed on the 4th of December 1995.
The territory of RA is divided into 10 marzes. The capital Yerevan has community status with 12
administrative districts, according to the RA Law “On local government in Yerevan city” passed
on the 26th of December 2008.
