Choosing a Race
Game Installation
You can choose between six playable races in Lineage II. Each offers unique characteristics, skills, and abilities to suit your play style.
Humans have great potential
and diversity. They are the
weakest races. However, they
have cultivated their own
destiny and are now the most
influential of the races.

Dark Elves follow Shilen, the goddess of
death, who used to be the goddess of water
before her fall from grace. Dark Elves are
stronger than Elves, are more accurate
at night, and have the strongest magical
powers of the races.
Insert the Lineage® II DVD into your DVD-ROM drive.
Choose Install Lineage II from the menu.
Follow the instructions given by the installation wizard.
An NCsoft Master Account is required to play Lineage II. Go to
https://secure.ncsoft.com/ for full instructions on how to create an
account and add your code.
Running Lineage II
Once Lineage II has been successfully installed on your computer and you
have created a game account, you can log into the game.
You can run Lineage II from the desktop icon, from the Lineage II Start
Menu group, or from the NCsoft launcher.
We recommend that you check the version of Lineage II by clicking the
Checking File button from the Lineage II start screen before logging
into the game. Using Checking Files assures that your game client is
the latest version available.
Orcs, the race of fire, serve
the god Pa’agrio. They are the
strongest race.
After the check completes, click the Start button from the Lineage II startup
screen to launch the game.
Dwarves are the race of earth. They
like to craft items and build things.
They are strong and dexterous.
Enter your game account name (ID) and password, and click Log In
to continue.
After reviewing the current User Agreement and clicking the Agree button
to accept, select from a list of servers (or worlds) for you to create your character in. Select a server local to your region for optimum performance. Click
the Confirm button to continue.
You can now create a new character, exit the game, or set game options that
suit your play style and computer requirements.
Elves worship the goddess of water,
Eva. They have slim builds and long
ears. They are characterized by their
innocence and their pure beauty.
The Kamael are mighty one-winged
soldiers. They have an affinity to dark
magic. Scholars speculate that the Kamael
were created by the Giants for combat.
