Delphi Diagnostics Installation guide for Vista.
Before proceeding with this guide, please ensure that if you have Bluetooth on your unit it is
now turned off / disabled and any associated Bluetooth software and drivers are uninstalled. If
you are unaware on how to do this please contact your hardware manufacturer.
The disabling of onboard Bluetooth can sometimes disable Wi-Fi systems. Check with
the hardware manufacturer to confirm if the Bluetooth can be disabled separately in the
BIOS

Software requirements
The Delphi Diagnostic software Laptop / PC minimum requirements are as follows:
Windows 2000/XP/Vista
(For XP you must be running service pack 2 or later)
Pentium 800 MHz, or similar
USB (optional Bluetooth)
256 MB internal memory
250 MB hard disk space (program size)
Resolution: 1024x768, High Colour (16 bits)
Please Note if used on wide screen format laptop’s “clipping” or a reduction in screen display
will occur meaning you will not be able to see the lower 2 selection boxes. You may need to
change your screen resolution to 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768 to display the software correctly.

Turn off UAC (User access controls)
Go to control panel then select user accounts within the user account option
select “Turn user account control on - off”

De-select the box so there is no tick in the box, then click OK & say yes to reboot PC.

Installation of Microsoft Vista help fix
Next install the Microsoft Windows help fix to enable you to view the help files
that are included with the;
“Delphi Diagnostics Windows Vista Bluetooth Drivers and Documentation”.
Click Start
Click Computer,
Click on the CD/DVD drive icon
Click on the folder called “Vista 32bit help file fix”

Click on the file called “Windows6.0-KB917607-x86.msu”
And follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.
Installation of the Kensington Bluetooth drivers for Microsoft Vista.
Insert the Kensington Bluetooth device into your USB port. Microsoft windows Vista will detect
the new hardware and will pop up the following window.
Select the “Locate and install driver software” option.

This will show the following window, insert the CD labelled Microsoft Vista Drivers for
Kensington Bluetooth Dongle that came with your diagnostic pack then click “Next”

The following window is shown while windows automatically searches and
installs the driver from the CD.

Windows will now locate and install the drivers. During the installation you
may see the following window.
Select the Install this driver software anyway and the installation will continue.

While the driver software is being installed then the following window is displayed.

When the installation is finished the following window is shown and the Bluetooth
hardware is ready for use.
Click “Close”.

Installing Delphi Diagnostic software
Insert the Delphi Diagnostics CD into the CD drive
Open “My Computer” and click on you CD drive (example below)
Click on the directory called “DS150e – 350E – 500E – 550E – 800E R1 2008”

Now click on the file called “Diagnostic R1 2008”
You will be asked to select your installation language, select as required then click “Ok”

Select the correct VCI for your Diagnostic setup, for 550 select the “combined unit”
You will be asked if you wish to link to “Tolerance”, click “No”

Now select your country location and click “Next”

Please wait while the diagnostic files will now be copied to your PC
The process will now install the USB drivers for the VCI, click “yes”

Windows will now tell you it’s can’t verify the publisher of the driver select
“Install this driver software anyway”

The software installation is now complete click “Finish”

Setup the shortcut link For Delphi Diagnostic
software
You should now have a link on the desktop of your PC called “Diagnostic”.
Right click on the icon and left click on “properties”.

If this option is greyed out follow the addition instructions below.

Tick the box to “Run as Administrator”.

Bluetooth Communication Setup.
Open BT by selecting icon from system tray in the bottom right corner of the screen.
Select “Add Bluetooth Device”

Power up your VCI and select “My device is set up and ready to be found” and click “next”

Unit will now start to search for device

Select “Delphi DSxxxE BT” device and click “Next”

Enter Pass key for mini VCI as “0” then select next

Bluetooth will now setup its link to the Delphi VCI.

Select “Finish”, your Bluetooth is now setup.
Make a note of the “Outgoing” port number you will need this later to
configure the link from the Bluetooth to the Delphi software.

Setting the diagnostic software to
communicate via Bluetooth
Open the Delphi Diagnostic software and click on the “Toolbox” icon

You will then have a list appear above the toolbox, click the “Settings” icon

Set comport on diagnostic version to “outgoing” comport listed earlier
in the setup guide, select your language and click “ok”.
