The 5 Myths You
Tell Yourself about
Getting Referrals –
& the Real Truth
About
Dan Allison
About
Keynote Session
With a background in clinical and
behavioral psychology, Dan Allison has
dedicated his career to understanding how
to approach clients about referrals. Rather
than pretend to know how to solve our
referral problems himself, Dan went to the
real experts....our clients.
Most professionals aspire to build a
business through client referrals, but
many are uncomfortable bringing up
the topic with their clients. We may tell
ourselves that our clients don’t like to
refer or that they’re afraid their referrals
might result in a bad experience. These
assumptions could not be further from
the truth.
After years of focus groups and interviews
asking our clients why they don’t refer us
more often and what we can do to address
the referral challenge, Dan created the
Feedback Marketing Group.
His consulting firm has helped thousands
of professionals implement common-sense
concepts to bridge the gap between us and
those who matter most in our business.
A successful entrepreneur himself, Dan
started his first mental health company
in his early twenties and used these
referral concepts to build his firm from
a small, five-employee firm to a large
company employing hundreds of
people....a company that he later sold
for millions.
In reality, most clients would be happy
to refer the professionals that they use.
The problem is that most of us haven’t
found a comfortable and professional way
to bring up the topic without feeling or
looking like salespeople.
In this entertaining talk, Dan will walk
PASBA members through the top myths
about why our clients don’t refer and
outline the challenges involved in
developing quality referral relationships
with clients. Participants in this session
will learn:
1
The five myths that they tell
themselves that make them
ineffective in receiving referrals.
2
A step-by-step approach for
discovering how clients feel about
being approached regarding referrals.
3
How to use this information to create
successful and professional referral
relationships.
