Situated 90 miles south of the Florida Keys,
Cuba is the largest island in the Caribbean. With miles of golden beaches, rich,
colourful scenery and a proud cultural heritage this stunningly beautiful and
exceptionally diverse country has been enticing visitors since Christopher Columbus landed
here in 1492. For the sun, sand and sea lover, Cuba boasts mile upon mile of unspoilt golden sandy
beaches; for the more adventurous travellers, explore the mountainous countryside with sugar cane
and rice fields and a fantastic coral reef, second only in length to the Great Barrier Reef. Whatever your
reason for choosing this wonderful country, you couldn’t have chosen a better time. Although tourism is growing,
Cuba is largely unspoilt and you can still escape from it all on a secluded beach far from the crowd. There is no
doubt that the Cubans will ensure you will not only have a fantastic time here but will leave with fond, treasured
memories and a little piece of Cuba in their heart. So what are you waiting for? Captivating Cuba can offer you
holidays you will remember for years to come.

Captivating Cuba - the Cuba holiday SpeCialiSt
Eco holidays
If you are one of the growing number of ecologically and socially
conscious travellers, or you just love nature, then a Cuba eco
holiday is a great choice for you. This spectacular island paradise
is filled with natural wonders of animal and plant life.

Fine Cigars,
Coffeeand Rum
Without doubt, one of the biggest draws of
visitors to Cuba is its fine luxury products.
Real Cuban cigars are well known as the
best money can buy, the Arabica coffee is
rich and sought after, and Cuban rum is
simply legendary. These luxury products can
be an integral part of your holiday in Cuba!
Stroll through the rich sugarcane plantations
where the first elements of rum are born,
through the fertile tobacco fields, and see
the cigars as they’re hand rolled in real
Cuban cigar factories.

The Caribbean is known
for its street parties and
Cuba’s festivals are the
very best of them.
Cuba’s festivals are
more than just a normal
street party - soaked in
happiness and with exotic
food and joyful dance, the
island’s many carnivals
are definitely a highlight for
Cuba’s holiday makers.
Trekking
Diving
Caribbean diving holidays guarantee some memorable times. From the
warm waters to the vast array of tropical fish, anyone from those born
with a wet suit on to those who have never seen an oxygen tank should
be able to have an unforgettable experience diving in Cuba.
Against this pristine backdrop, the dozens of species of fish glide
around in undulating schools or solitary independence. Moray eels peer
from within caves, squids and octopi drift by alongside barracuda, rays
and even the occasional shark. For fans of underwater documentaries,
a Caribbean holiday spent diving in Cuba is a jaw-dropping experience!
Historical
Touring
Like Cuba’s history, Cuban
Architecture is rich and diverse,
with strong contrasts mirroring the
country’s social and political past.
During your Cuba holiday, you will
see evidence of days gone by in
the form of graceful old colonial
buildings, while a sign of the times
is reflected by imposing stark
modern structures.
Golf
Cuba’s golf courses provide the perfect way to enjoy the Caribbean
sunshine for those with a love of the sport. The courses are on
level ground, covered with well kept grass and lakes and are
cleverly located between breathtaking hills and of course, golf in the
Caribbean’s beautiful climate makes the experience all the more
enjoyable. Both courses are spacious, offering plenty of room for
keen golfers to improve their swing and putting!
Pampering
If relaxation and taking time to unwind is what you require, then look no
further. Cuba now offers wonderful 5-Star Spa Treatments in exclusive
areas such as Cayo Ensenachos & Guardalavaca to name a few. From
Thalassotherapy treatments and warm body wraps to rejuvenating
facials, be totally pampered in luxury.
Deep Sea Fishing
Painting
With its breathtaking natural beauty and its colourful towns, a Cuban
painting holiday is a natural choice for those who love art. Cuba offers
great areas for painting, such as Havana and the Viñales Valley, and
you can view stunning original Cuban paintings in a number of galleries.
If you are hoping to see some of the best of Cuban art then there are
several galleries to visit. One of these is Havana’s National Museum
of Fine Arts, which exhibits original Cuban paintings from colonial
to contemporar y.
Fishing in Cuba is well known as a big
attraction. Deep sea fishing in Cuba is
particularly popular, especially on the
North West coast at Cayo Guillermo, a
location that Ernest Hemingway was fond
of when fishing.
Cayo Coco is another favourite place for
deep sea fishing in Cuba, and the lakes
nearby also offer fresh water fishing as
an alternative.

Weddings, Honeymoons
and Renewal of Vows in Cuba
Havana
no trip to Cuba is complete without visiting the colourful Capital
of havana. If there is a more exciting city in the world, it is yet to be
discovered. Havana is a vibrant and bustling city with a strong sense of its
history. The city of Havana is one of the most enduring images of Cuba,
with its 1950s American cars cruising every street and the beauty of the
Spanish colonial architecture on every corner, you begin to imagine that you
have stepped back in time.

ld havana is now a World
heritage Site famous for its
architecture. With many of the
buildings currently being lovingly restored
to their former glory and some even
becoming hotels, Havana has become
the centre of the island’s cultural life.
We recommend a visit to the Havana
Cathedral, Captain General’s Palace
or perhaps stopping off for a mojito at
the bar La Bodeguita del Medio or for
a daiquiri at the Havana Floridita bar –
both old haunts of Ernest Hemingway.
Around Havana’s Parque Central area,
set next to Old Havana, are further
beautiful examples of architecture,
including the Capitiolio building - a replica
of the Capital building in Washington DC,
and the beautiful Grand Theatre, still
used for ballet and opera performances
today. The Partagas cigar factory is set
behind the Capitolio building and makes
an interesting visit for Havana cigar
smokers or for an insight into how this
Cuban tradition has been maintained.
Other places of interest near to
Old Havana are the Museum of the
Revolution and the National Museum
of Fine Arts. Or why not take in the
more modern Havana, and include
a visit to Revolution Square and the
Miramar district? The Malecon road
winds along the coast of Havana and
makes a beautiful drive. In the evening
the Malecon makes a busy meeting
place for local people, and creates a
wonderful atmosphere as you view
the sun setting over the dilapidated
buildings along the shore with waves
crashing gently over the seawall.
Music is at the very heart of Cuba and
the vibrant nightlife of Havana reflects
this as the party capital of the island.
Here, you will be treated to a real taste
of Latino culture, whether you opt
for a glittering Cabaret show, a lively
nightclub, or choose to dance the night
away in a Salsa bar, there really is
something for everyone.

captain in 1774 and currently has 190 000
inhabitants. Rich and fertile with tobacco and coffee
plantations, beautiful rivers and natural springs, part of
the region is conserved as an ecological ‘biosphere’ area
and offers a wonderfully different side to Cuba. there is
little or nothing in the way of highly developed tourism
and the towns and villages which dot the undulating
landscape appear to be in something of a charming time
warp. the population is devoted largely to the production
of tobacco with pinar del Rio producing 70% of Cuba’s
crop and it is reputed that the leaves rolled here account
for the very best cigars that Cuba produces. if a visit to a
tobacco plantation is planned, this is the place.
SOROA HHH
A little to the north of the city of Pinar del Rio is the
small village of viñales, which is surrounded by the most
beautiful scenery. Karst formations with tobacco plants
between them make the landscape spectacular. Hiking in
this area could be one of the highlights of your Cuba holiday.
To the southwest of the city lies the village of San Juan y
Martinez, Cuba’s tobacco capital. Many locals will offer to
show you their tobacco farm and explain how to make the
best tobacco in the world. Most of this process is done by

Varadero
Famed for its white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters, Varadero is
located less than a two hour drive east of Havana.
Stretching for some twenty kilometres along a narrow peninsula on the north coast of the
island, its popularity has resulted in an ever increasing number of hotels with a wide range of
in-house entertainment and facilities, making it ideal for sun-lovers and water babies alike. Also,
in Varadero one can find the only 18-hole golf course in Cuba, right beside the beach. Because
the Peninsula rarely exceeds half a kilometre in width, the beach in Varadero is never more
than a ten-minute walk away. Further to this, Varadero is by far the best place on the island for
watersports with three marinas on the peninsula and many diving clubs.
Varadero offers the classic relaxing beach holiday. Nevertheless, it is still worth getting away,
even briefly, from the temptations on offer at your hotel to get out and about and have a look
around the resort in search of at least a hint of the real Cuba.

amaguey is located in central Cuba so makes a great stop
off point for any visitor travelling across Cuba. Camaguey is
a relatively large city with over 300,000 residents. The city is
most famous for large clay pots called tinajones that are used for
collecting rainwater. Legend says that if you drink from one of the clay
pots then you will fall in love with Camaguey and one day return.
In the centre of Camaguey is a stunning old plaza called Plaza San
Juan de Dios which is set in cobblestone streets and surrounded by
brightly painted traditional buildings. The old heart of Camaguey is a
labyrinth of narrow winding streets that were created this way in order
to confuse pirates. Another attraction to see is the beautiful colonial
church Nuestra Senora de la Merced. The church has catacombs that
include a solid silver coffin. If you are keen to see the clay pots for
which Camaguey is famous then take a visit to the Museo Provincial
Ignacio Agramonte. The pots can be up to 10 feet in diameter and
were traditionally used to collect water for use in a drought.

this area of Cuba was famous for its sugar plantations, and sugar cane was once the

Santiago de Cuba closely follows havana in
terms of historical and cultural importance.
Set between the Sierra Maestra mountains
and the coast, Santiago is Cuba’s second
biggest city. Lying in a sheltered bay on the
south-east coast, the city is a melting pot
of different ethnic influences famous for its
music, dance and hospitality.
Having more of an Afro-Cuban feel than
Havana, the passion for salsa and carnival
are greater here in Santiago than anywhere
on the island. The Santiago de Cuba carnival
runs annually in the latter two weeks of July
and is the biggest carnival event in Cuba.
Residents also pride themselves that their
city is known as the ‘Cradle of the Revolution’
as this is where the revolution began and
also where Fidel Castro first announced to the
people of Cuba that the revolution had been
a success. Interestingly, history dictates
that it was on the 26th July 1953 that Castro
launched an attack on the Moncada barracks
in Santiago de Cuba. Castro’s reasoning was
that the soldiers would be too busy drinking
and celebrating carnival to create too much of
a threat to his men.
Bordered by the imposing mountains of Sierra
Maestra, Cuba’s old capital is blessed with
a dramatic and unique setting. Santiago
gets hot and, coupled with the hilly terrain,
trying to see or do too much in any one day
should be avoided. Maybe this explains the
laid back atmosphere of the affable locals.
The best beaches around Santiago are quite
a way out of the city although there are
numerous hideaway coves nearer by.
