Denise x3019, [email protected]
This is the third year of our
participation in Dress a Girl Around
the World. This ministry provides new
dresses to little girls to give them
dignity and to show they are loved.
A simple dress may well change a
young girl’s destiny. Our dresses (and
shorts for boys!) have been delivered
by mission groups to Haiti, Zambia,
Uganda, Viet Nam, and Mexico. Join us at a sewing workshop on
Tuesday, August 4, 10am-2pm, in
H100 and learn how to sew a t-shirt
dress. All sewing supplies will be
provided except sewing machines. Please contact Jan Van Alstine at

Bev x3017, [email protected]
Join us at our next STARTING
POINT class Sunday, August 9 from
12:30-2:30pm. We invite you to come
to C101 after the 11:11am service for
lunch. While we’re eating, there
will be a chance to get acquainted
with others who are there. It is a
great time to be with Pastors Glenn,
Lisa, and Tamiko in a small-group
setting to learn how to be more
involved in connecting, growing, and
serving here at Purpose Church. For
those interested in baptism and/or
membership, you will learn the steps
to take to make that happen.
Please join us for this free class
(lunch is also free). Childcare is
provided for children age 12 and
under with reservations. We need
to know you are coming, so please
make a reservation by writing

or contacting Beverly Moudy.
Love Lincoln,
Bring School Supplies
Nancy x3014, [email protected]
Let’s love on our local
neighborhood school, Lincoln
Elementary, as we have done the
past few years. Bring piles of school
supplies to the Global Impact Café.
They need lots of copy paper, pencils,
markers, crayons, glue, scissors,
lined binder paper, backpacks, pens,
pocket portfolios, and pencil cases
so load up our boxes with love for
Lincoln through school supplies. You
can drop it off at the Global Impact
office during the week if you prefer.

PAUL’S THIRD MISSIONARY JOURNEY
Acts 20:18-21
When they arrived, he said to them: “You know how I lived the whole
time I was with you, from the first day I came into the province of Asia. 19 I
served the Lord with great humility and with tears and in the midst of severe
testing by the plots of my Jewish opponents. 20 You know that I have not
hesitated to preach anything that would be helpful to you but have taught
you publicly and from house to house. 21 I have declared to both Jews
and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our
Lord Jesus.
2. A word is well-timed when it is based on ___________
motives.
1 Chronicles 28:9
“And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and
serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the
Lord searches every heart and understands every desire and every
thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake
him, he will reject you forever.
Proverbs 16:2
All a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the
Lord.
Acts 20:17
From Miletus, Paul sent to Ephesus for the elders of the church.
Proverbs 27:14
If a man loudly blesses his neighbor early in the morning, it will be taken
as a curse.
1 Thessalonians 2:3
For the appeal we make does not spring from error or impure motives, nor are
we trying to trick you.
Proverbs 15:23
A man finds joy in giving an apt reply—and how good is a timely word!
James 4:3
When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that
you may spend what you get on your pleasures.
1. A word is well-timed when it is built on a __________-
The Conscience
__________ relationship.
3
• We have a conscience even before we ________________ Christ.
Romans 2:14-15
(Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things
required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they
do not have the law. 15 They show that the requirements of the law are
written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and
their thoughts sometimes accusing them and at other times even
defending them.)
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and
purify us from all unrighteousness.
Acts 20:24
However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish
the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of
testifying to the good news of God’s grace.
BUNKER BUSTING CONSCIENCE
Actions Words Thoughts Attitudes Motives
Acts 20:26
Therefore, I declare to you today that I am innocent of the blood of any of
you.
Suneidesis = “to know together”
• The conscience of a Christ-follower has a heightened sense of _____________.
Hebrews 9:9
This is an illustration for the present time, indicating that the gifts and
sacrifices being offered were not able to clear the conscience of the
worshiper.
Acts 20:33-35
I have not coveted anyone’s silver or gold or clothing. 34 You
yourselves know that these hands of mine have supplied my own needs
and the needs of my companions. 35 In everything I did, I showed you that by
this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the
Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
Hebrews 10:22
let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that
faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty
conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.
1 Thessalonians 2:3-5
For the appeal we make does not spring from error or impure motives, nor are
we trying to trick you. 4 On the contrary, we speak as those approved by God
to be entrusted with the gospel. We are not trying to please people but
God, who tests our hearts. 5 You know we never used flattery, nor did we
put on a mask to cover up greed—God is our witness.
The Three Types of Consciences:
1. A _____________ Conscience
3. A word is well-timed when it tells the ___________ truth.
1 Corinthians 8:7
But not everyone possesses this knowledge. Some people are still so
accustomed to idols that when they eat sacrificial food they think of it as
having been sacrificed to a god, and since their conscience is weak, it is
defiled.
Acts 20:27
“ For I have not hesitated to proclaim to you the whole will of God.”
4. A word is well-timed when it ___________ of danger.
Doing the ___________ things for the ____________ reasons.
Acts 20:28-31
Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has
made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought
with his own blood. 29 I know that after I leave, savage wolves will
come in among you and will not spare the flock. 30 Even from your own
number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples
after them. 31 So be on your guard! Remember that for three years I never
stopped warning each of you night and day with tears.
2. A _____________ Conscience
Doing the ______________ things for the _____________
reasons or doing the _____________ things for the
___________ reasons.
Jude 1:22-23
Be merciful to those who doubt; 23 save others by snatching them
from the fire; to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the
clothing stained by corrupted flesh.
Ephesians 4:22
You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old
self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires;
3. A ____________ Conscience
Fill in the Blanks: long-term, true, follow, reality, Weak, right, wrong,
Seared, wrong, wrong, wrong, right, Good, right, right, whole, warns
1 Timothy 1:18-19
Timothy, my son, I am giving you this command in keeping with the
prophecies once made about you, so that by recalling them you may fight the
battle well, 19 holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some
have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith. 20
Among them are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to
Satan to be taught not to blaspheme.

Pray for the people of two former
French colonies in the Caribbean,
(Grenada and Guadalupe), which
share similar spiritual struggles of
nominal Catholicism and lack of
vision and unity among Evangelical
churches. There is a need to
turn around the prevailing moral
and family decline, with 45% of
households led by only a mother. Pray
for the stability for both governments
as coups, riots, strikes and protests
point to the dissatisfaction and
tension among the people.
Pray for our missionaries Scott
and Becky Slamer as they serve in
CRU leadership, training other CRU
leaders in summer evangelization
outreaches. They need an increase in
financial support to cover expenses
while they are in Colorado overseeing
the work of the Pacific CRU teams
and leaders. May God continue the
abundant outpouring of His spirit
on the young people the CRU teams
reach out to this summer.

Your Invitation to Reach Out to
Rancho Cucamonga
Community Outreach
Volunteers Needed
Peter Torry x3030, [email protected].
We are excited to announce that Crossroads Community Church of Rancho
Cucamonga has asked to become one of our multi-site campus locations. CCC
has been in existence for 17 years in Fontana and eastern Rancho Cucamonga
and feel that now is the time to join with Purpose Church so that more people
in Rancho Cucamonga can be reached for Jesus. Purpose Church, Rancho
Cucamonga campus, will begin meeting officially on September 6. The Sunday
morning service will be similar in worship style to the 9:45am service here at
the main campus. Most Sundays, Pastor Glenn will be speaking via video (with
a one-week delay). The Campus Pastor will be Dan Burr who has been the
founding Pastor of CCC.
We are very excited about this opportunity and want to encourage you to
consider being a part of the new campus. If you live out in that direction, this
is a wonderful opportunity to connect with new friends and reach out to a new
neighborhood. The church is located at 12005 Jack Benny Drive (suite #102) in
Rancho Cucamonga. It is about three blocks south of Victoria Gardens and just
around the corner from Quakes Stadium.
Nancy x3014, [email protected]
Tina x3021, [email protected]
Adults from over a dozen Southern
California churches will be at Forest
Home for the TRUE NORTH Retreat,
on September 18-20. This gathering
is designed to encourage active
adults in their spiritual walk, nurture
relationships, and find new ways
to serve the Lord while navigating
through the second half of life. More
information is on the Adults 50+
table in the Worship Center. On August 29, the Pomona Faith
community comes together to love
our neighbors at the Operation Hope
event extending hope to veterans, the
homeless, and Pomona community.
Volunteers are needed to pack and
distribute food boxes, cook and serve
the hot meal, set up and take down
tables and booths, and pray with new
believers. Write “Operation Hope” on
a Connect card and plan to attend the
informational/training Discipleship
class on Thursday, August 13 at
7pm in H100.
