Via Diaz, 27 - tel. +39 040 6754350/4158
The museum was founded in 1872 at
the behest of Baron Revoltella, who
also promoted the excavation of the
Suez canal. It includes a sumptuous
example of a 19th century bourgeois
home, and Brunner palace, restored
by Venetian architect C. Scarpa. The
museum houses works by Carrà, Sironi, de Chirico, Fontana, Burri, Morandi
and many other significant 19th century
Italian artists such as Canova.
Sartorio Civic Museum
Largo Papa Giovanni XXIII, 1
tel. +39 040 301479
Donated by the Sartorio family to the
Municipality in 1946, the 18th century
villa housing the museum is a sparkling
example of the Sartorio family life. Its
refined furniture frames the RusconiOpuich collection (icons, silverware,
majolicas), the Santa Chiara triptych
(14th century) and 254 drawings by
Tiepolo. A recent addition to the museum
is the G. Piperata collection, including
works by A. Fittke. The Sartorio museum
also includes a collection of plaster casts,
a collection of glyptographs, a picture
gallery and G. Costantinides Memorial.
In August, every Tuesday and Wednesday from 8.00 p.m., the garden of the
museum hosts “Musei di sera”: music,
gatherings and other interesting events.
