We invite you to get involved!!!
Business Partnership/District
A Business Partnership is a long term, mutually
beneficial relationship created by a business and
the district to provide schools and businesses an
opportunity to share resources. Partnerships are
designed to be dynamic, innovative and rewarding.
The overall goal is to create a relationship that is
highly responsive to the needs of both the business
and the district.
Tiger Mentor
(Boys to Men and Precious Gems)
Tiger Mentor is a campus based mentoring program
designed to cultivate self-esteem and self-confidence
into a child’s life while instilling a motivation to learn
and improve character and social skills. Our mentors
become role models that reinforce the importance of
education and build relationships with their students.
Volunteers in Public Schools
Volunteers in Public Schools or VIPS, is designed
to further the efforts of parent and community
volunteering by promoting family involvement in the
educational future of our children. Our goals are
to make the school a center for the community, and
to help raise funds to be used in the education of
students. Thousands of hours are donated by VIPS
members each year.
Character First
Character First is a program to evaluate, improve
and enhance Character Education in the
Texarkana Independent School District and each
campus through developing Six Character Traits.
Honesty - implies straightforward communication.
Respect - determines how we speak to others, how
we act around them and how we treat their property
and the person. Kindness - teaches students that
we perform kind and helpful acts without seeking
any regard, acclamation, or praise. Responsibility teaches a set of classroom rules that is very definite
in terms of expectations for the individual and
consequences when the expectations are ignored
or unmet. Perseverance - as educators, family, and
community we should standby and with them and
behind them; by being coaches and cheerleaders,
and by the witness of our own example. Patience we identify strategies for practicing patience when in
heated situations, such as counting to 10, stopping
to breathe deeply several times.

Information about Lunch with TISD’s Finest
“Lunch with TISD Finest” was created to help establish and build
a positive relationship between TISD Police officers and the
students of the TISD community. Positive interaction between
TISD Police officers and students will last a lifetime. The TISD
Police officers that are involved with the program will take the
child/children that are selected for the program out to eat
lunch at one of our Partners in Education businesses.
Parents and guardians are notified in advance. TISD Police
officers in uniform will pick the students up at school, take
them to eat at a designated place, and return them back
to the school after the event. Students are recommended
for participation in the program by TISD Police department
members, school employees, such as counselors, teachers,
principals etc. Anyone can nominate a student who meets the
criteria: (1) being between the ages of six and eleven (2) who
has a social or economic need and (3) must live and attend
school in TISD District.
