Kiwanis Honors Longden Elementary School Students
April Rodriguez, Arianna Chambers, and Kyle Lee
January 26, 2016
The Kiwanis Club of Temple City recognized three outstanding students from Longden Elementary School.
Accompanying the students was their teacher, Mrs. Karen Hsieh.
April is 11 years old and has two younger sisters. She enjoys running and riding her bike around the block. April said, “The
best things about Longden Elementary are my awesome teacher, Mrs. Hsieh, teachers help students when it is needed, and the
great education they give us.” The best thing that ever happened was when her mother had her two younger sisters. If she could
change one thing, it would be to let people be free from countries that are at war. Personal goals are to build a homeless shelter
that would provide education and heathy food for children, get good grades, make her mom proud, and finish her homework
before 6 p.m.
Arianna is 11 years old and has a younger sister. She enjoys baking, art, music, and collecting Paris stuff, coins, and action
figures. Arianna said, “The best things about Longden Elementary are my friends, my teachers, recess and lunch.” The best thing
that ever happened was when her little sister was born and she was able to hold her for the first time. If she could change one
thing, it would be to stop world wars and bring peace. Personal goals are to build a huge animal shelter for stray animals, get
good grades, attend a university, and buy a house.
Kyle is 11 years old and has a younger brother. He enjoys video games, reading, swimming, basketball, and writing. Kyle
said, “The best things about Longden Elementary are the good teachers, really big campus, and the library.” The best thing that
ever happened was when he got his dog. If he could change one thing, it would be more rights for pets, like going out of the
house by themselves and returning. If he could change one thing, it would be to build a gadget like a phone that can grant you
10 wishes. Personal goals are to support all the animal shelters, be a successful author, and become a professional chef.
Each week the Temple City Kiwanis Club is pleased to recognize outstanding students and their teachers from Cloverly,
Emperor, Longden, Oak Avenue, and the Dr. Doug Sears Learning Center. Kiwanis treats students and their teacher to lunch.
Students receive a certificate, a letter for their parents, a bumper sticker, a gift certificate from The Hat Restaurant, and a
photograph of them receiving their award. Their photo will also be published in the Mid Valley News, Temple City Life, Temple City
Tribune and posted on the Temple City Unified School District website.
