welcome to our new season
WELCOME box office : 01306 881717
Welcome to the new season of entertainment at
Dorking Halls.
We continue to bring you some of the best comedy acts around, and
are very pleased to present another great selection, including two
brilliant comedians who have never played here before.
You will recognise Lee Nelson from his many TV appearances, but
we are also excited about having a date on a rare UK tour by top US
comedian Doug Stanhope. Widely regarded by
fellow comedians as one of the best in the
business, Doug’s shockingly uninhibited live shows are famously
controversial and not for the faint hearted.
We always try to find new and interesting shows when we can, and I
would encourage you to check out Time Gentlemen Please, which is a
fantastic treat for folk music fans in particular. Featuring the
award-winning Demon Barbers, the show blends traditional music and

Time Gentlemen Please!
Featuring The Demon Barbers
Vienna Festival Ballet presents
Swan Lake
Time Gentlemen Please! is a fast-paced and
innovative show that brings together some of the
UK’s top folk, clog, sword and morris dancers
with their counterparts from the worlds of
b-boying, popping, krump and
beatbox.
A group of street dancers
arrives at an apparently
deserted pub. But as the
regulars arrive a clash of
cultures turns into a dance floor
stand-off. Sword dances will be
performed with snooker-cues,
pub bouncers dance competitive
morris and b-boys flirt with clog
girls. Meanwhile, talented house
band The Demon Barbers will take English
folk music on an exciting new journey.
Vienna Festival Ballet is bringing one of the
best known love stories to Dorking Halls.
Lavish costumes, stunning scenery,
international stars and Tchaikovsky’s
glorious music make this an unmissable
night.
Swan Lake is the most popular ballet in
the world. It captures the full range of
human emotions – hope, despair, terror,
tenderness,
melancholy and
ecstasy. Experience
them all with

Made in Mole Valley:
Mole Valley District Council is asking
filmmakers to submit short films for Made in
Mole Valley, a project centred around
London 2012 which celebrates the district’s
culture and heritage. The films should be
3-5 minutes, have an Olympic-inspired
theme and feature Mole Valley. They must
highlight local culture and can be fictional,
documentary-style, an animation or a music
video. They can have a narrative or be
experimental. They can also be filmed in a
variety of mediums. A series of filmmaking
workshops will be offered alongside the
project. A panel of judges will select the
best films to feature on the council’s
website www.molevalley.gov.uk and
www.visitdorking.com.
