SAN JOSE, CA - Blu Cocoon MedSpa,
downtown San Jose's first and only medical
spa, located at the San Jose Market Center
opened its doors to the public last January.
Offering technologically-advanced antiaging treatments in a relaxed spa setting, Blu
Cocoon's physician-supervised staff of licensed
medical professionals perform FDA-approved
medical beauty procedures,
Among these procedures are foto facials,
laser facials, Botox and Restylane injections,
medical peels, laser hair reduction and laser
vein therapy.
The medspa only uses products of a high
medical grade and strength.
Other medspa services performed by Blu
Cocoon's licensed estheticians include the classic facial, vibradermabrasion (skin resurfacing), corrective acne treatment and live stem
cell skin therapy.
Blu Cocoon was founded by two Filipino
sisters and registered nurses - Cristina Ignacio
and Cecilia Cayabyab.
Cristina, Blu Cocoon's spa director and
formerly a registered nurse at the coronary care
unit of Stanford Hospital, has worked for a
local med spa performing laser and light therapy treatments.
Cecilia balances her job as nurse manager
for the oncology center at O'Connor Hospital
with her duties at Blu Cocoon.
Both sisters have certification in several
laser and light therapy applications, skin rejuvenation treatments, and Botox and Restylane
injections.
Blu Cocoon's medical director Dr. Al
Shen has experience in internal medicine and
dermatology. Dr. Shen is certified in several
aesthetic laser and light therapies, as well as
Botox and other injectables.
Dr. Shen is also a part of Solana Medical
Group, a leader in Aesthetic Medicine headed
by renowned Plastic Surgeon Dr. Terry Perkins.
As Blu Cocoon's medical director, he brings
years of medical experience and practical
knowledge of running a medical practice.
Cristina shares that the idea of opening
Blu Cocoon stemmed from her and business
Cecilia's desire to be entrepreneurs.
"My sister and I wanted to open our own
business but did not want to let go of our nursing background," Cristina explains. "Unlike
many medspas that are owned by business people who concentrate on revenue generation,
Blu Cocoon's priority will be on medical services."
Cristina further stressed that the Blu
Cocoon is supported by a medical doctor, "who
is very involved and our nurses and staff are
well trained and will receive on-going training
and regular competency checks."
"We believe that if we treat our customers
right, by providing them with the service and
quality they are seeking, success will come,"
Cristina added.
