–Rotary tables
• Provides Clockwise rotation force
to the drill string to facilitate the
process of drilling a borehole.
Most are chain driven that require
constant oiling to prevent burning and
seizing.

ELECTRICAL MOTORS MARKET
Electric Motors
Two Types
• DC – Direct Current
• Has been the most popular in the industry for
years, where variable frequency or speed
operation is needed
• AC – Alternating Current
• Is taking over due to the development of modern
AC motors and VFDs (Variable Frequency
Drives)
Variable Frequency Drives
• Main Function
• Control AC Motor Speed and Torque
Also Known As:
Variable Speed Drive
AC Drives
Inverter Drives
Adjustable Frequency Drives
Benefits of AC vs.DC
Today ‘s Market

Insulation
Insulation Kit includes: Nomex paper and wedges, with
fiberglass top sticks. Combined in the Ward Leonard assembly
process, these materials provide superior electrical insulation.
Stator Core
Stator core is insulated with double insulation paper.
Winding
Winding is installed into the stator slots. Note the double
insulation paper, tape, wedges and top sticks.
Insulating tape
Various types of glass
filled insulation tape used
to insulate the winding in
the stator slot.
RTD Installation
RTD installation between the double slot insulation.
Windings – tape insulated
Windings installed in the stator are tape insulated. Note the
double insulation paper and wedges in the slot providing the
additional insulation protection.
Stator installation
Terminated stator after
insulating VPI process.
Stator installed in frame
Terminal Box
Typical lead termination through terminal box.
