ISD 194 Levy Referendum 2015
On November 3, residents will be voting on
Lakeville Area Public Schools capital and
operating levy. Approval of the capital levy
will create a consistent funding stream that
will provide increased, equitable access to
digital tools and resources to enhance
learning and help students be career and
college ready. It also would provide
funding needed for equipment to support
Science-Technology-Engineering-Math
(STEM) programming and improve safety
and security for all students.

Approval of the operating levy will be used
to reduce class size (e.g., student to teacher
ratio) at the secondary level. Funds raised
would also enable the district to reinstate
elementary art and fifth grade band, as
parents have requested.

Art Adventure
During the month of November your student(s)
will have an “art adventure.” Art Adventure is a
volunteer based program from the Minneapolis
Institute of Arts that engages students with an up
close and personal experience with
reproductions of artworks from the MIA’s
collection. All students, grades K-5, will
participate in an art lesson looking at
reproductions of art pieces themed “People and
Their Environment” including paintings,
photography, and cultural art pieces. Parent
volunteers will receive training from the
Minneapolis Institute of Arts this month and will
be leading the lesson.

SchoolStore.com
The PTO will be participating in the
SchoolStore.com fundraiser again this year.
SchoolStore.com is an online shopping mall
where over 400 nationally-known merchants
have agreed to give a percentage of sales to K12 schools. Companies like Walmart.com,
Sears, Target, Disney Store, Family Book Store,
and Oriental Trading Company participate.
Plan to do your holiday shopping online this
year with SchoolStore.com and a percentage of
your purchase will benefit JFK.
