Several HMS students excelled
at the HMS school and county
History Fair this year! Based
on the theme “Leadership and
Legacy in History,” students in
grades 6 to 12 used primary
and secondary sources to research a topic relating to local,
national, or world history. After analyzing and interpreting
the information they gathered,
students expressed their findings in a paper, exhibit, performance, documentary, or website. They could work individually or in groups of up to five
members except in the historical paper category, which is
open only to individuals. National finalists will win prizes
ranging from medals to cash!
The County History Fair was
held at the Gulf Breeze Middle
School library on February 6th.

category, Group Exhibit. Adeline Belova, 7th grader, was
given first place, in her category, Individual Documentary.

On February 24th, the 8th
graders took a trip to Pensacola State College to view some
amazing careers out there.
Students had different
“worlds” or sections that contained jobs that match that
world. They had the worlds of
energy, construction, education, finance, health & life
sciences, human service, information technology & cyber
security, manufacturing, public service, and safety. From

Mrs. Bell—Pre-algebra, Algebra 1, and Algebra 1
Honors
Sue has been a valued member of
HMS for the past 12 years as a parapro/health aid in ESE CBSA. She is
enthusiastic, compassionate, dependable, efficient, and dedicated in
helping our students be successful.
Mrs. Bell’s class celebrated Pi day of the century 3/14/15. Her
students brought anything round into class and they were asked to
find out the area, the circumference, the diameter, and the radius.
There was a variety of what students brought… pies, cakes, cookies, and some students made t shirts.
Sue has been involved in numerous
trainings during the last 5 years here
at Hobbs. Some of these include CPI training, Medicaid Billing, Child Abuse training, AED and CPR training, CBSA para-pro training. She has received awards
from the Special Olympics and Miracle League.
Coach Blake & Coach Ketterer—P.E.
P.E. is doing the President’s challenge, which tests all the different
components of physical ability. The students have to prove themselves by doing exercises that test cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, muscular strength and endurance, body composition, agility, and balance. The weather has really been messing up PE so
they are doing a lot of make up tests.
BOOK FAIR

The Scholastic Book Fair is April
6-10th. It will be really SPECIAL
because it has been planned by
the Student Crew (aka the library
student assistants). The theme is
Rainforest Safari. There will be
cool decorations, and anyone
who makes at least a $5 purchase
will be entered into a drawing for
prizes. The Book Fair will be
located in the Library Media
Center. Please stop by anytime
between 8am-3pm.

DIVE INTO SUMMER!
The Navarre Beach Marine Science Station is happy
to offer their seventh year of summer camp. The
camps allow kids to grow up learning about the
Gulf of Mexico. Science by the Sea! Camp sessions
emphasize marine science and coastal ecology while
nurturing the curiosity and stewardship potential in each child. Using elements of environmental and experiential education as well as creative arts,
each session is tailored to meet the learning stages and styles of kids’
entering grades 1-2, 3-5 and 6-8.

THE HOBBS MIDDLE SCHOOL JAZZ BAND IS SUPERIOR

Under the direction of Amanda Leddy the Hobbs Middle School jazz band has
received straight superiors in MPA (Musical Performance Assessment). This is
the first year our jazz band has achieved this. This is also the first time both
Symphonic and Jazz band have received straight superiors.
