Urban Fun Much of Ottawa’s natural beauty lies in its close proximity to water. The Ottawa River and the Rideau River create a natural border, with parks, beaches, and natural green spaces throughout, which can be accessed by the city’s extensive, paved pathways — 300 km (186 miles)! This 36 network of paths enables you to bike, walk or blade easily and safely from one scenic area to the next. Bicycles can be rented at any of Ottawa’s Capital BIXI locations throughout the city or from RentABike (includes helmets and locks), adjacent to the Rideau Canal in downtown Ottawa. Book hotels and packages at WWW.OTTAWATOURISM.CA Winding its way through the heart of the city is the Rideau Canal. Others will enjoy a leisurely day or nighttime stroll, jog or bike ride along many of the canal’s adjacent, and well-lit pathways.
