Boys basketball team is ready for
February
The boys basketball team has been playing hard all season. The Jaguars have a record of 710. The boys played ClarksonLeigh in Howells on December 19. They played a great game and defeated the Patriots 5034. The Jags then played in the Knight Classic Tournament at Midland University. They played a very good Bergan team and forced the game into overtime. In OT, the boys took over and beat the Knights 7166. They were the Knight Classic runner up, losing to toprated Winnebago in the championship 6285. The boys were also in the Homer Holiday Tournament where they received third place. They lost to GACC first round and then beat Homer in the consolation match, 6431. During January, the boys played Plainview, WisnerPilger, Humphrey St. Francis, Pender, and Logan View/ScribnerSnyder. They came out 23. Next, the team will be in for a very challenging East Husker Conference Tournament. After that, the Jaguars will soon be starting districts. Good luck, boys! Mallory Rolf The girls basketball team sets high
goals for January
The Lady Jags came out of December with a 7-3 record and a
Runner-Up plaque from the Homer Holiday Tournament. Excited with
the great start to the season, Coach Polacek challenged the girls to go
undefeated in the month of January, and the girls hope to do just that.
Their first game of the month was against Plainview on the 9th in
Dodge. The girls took care of the Pirates holding them to only six
points into the third quarter, the final score was 50-15. Samantha
Brester also scored her 1000th point against Plainview, she became
the 1st girls basketball player in school history to achieve this daunting
task. Congratulations on this major accomplishment, Sam!
On Tuesday, January 12th the girls took on the Eagles of
Lutheran High Northeast. The Lady Jags steamrolled the competition
61-22. Next the girls faced the Wisner-Pilger gators, the Jaguars came
to play with a final score of 62-38. To cap off a packed week of
basketball, the team traveled to Humphrey to take on a long time rival,
the St. Francis Flyers. After a hard fought battle, the girls pulled off a
40-26 win, extending their record to 11-3. As the conference
tournament fast approached the girls prepared to take on two tough
conference teams, Tekamah-Herman and Pender. First the girls faced
the Tekamah-Herman Tigers. After a hard fought battle the Lady Jags
were defeated, 40-41. However, the lady jags bounced back on
Saturday to pull off the
close win against the
Pender Pendragons,
65-64. The girls have
received the third seed
in East Husker
Conference Tournament,
and are preparing for
their first round on
Friday, January 29.
Good Luck to the Lady
