ABOUT RAJAGIRI
RAJAGIRI College of Social Sciences was established in 1955 by
the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), founded by Saint
Chavara, a great visionary, reformer and religious leader of the
19th century. Affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala,
and accredited at ‘A’ grade by the National Assessment and
Accreditation Council (NAAC) of the University Grants
Commission (UGC), the college offers undergraduate and post
graduate programs in Social Work and Library and Information
Science, post graduate programs

School of Commerce is the freshly initiated undergraduate
department in the Rajagiri College of Social Sciences which
became functioned from the academic year 2015-16. It is
designed to provide the aspiring students with a wide range of
managerial skills while at the same time enhance their
competence in specialized areas of business studies. Industry
visits, field trips and corporate talks give adequate practical
exposure to the students about the subject.
We offer the following programmes
RCSS is one among the few colleges in Kerala which has been
granted autonomous status by the University Grants
Commission (UGC). The academic autonomy helps the college to
prescribe its own courses of study and syllabi in line with the
requirements of the industry. The academic autonomy also
enables the college to conduct examinations and bring out
results in a timely manner.

Campus life
Bachelor of Business Administration is specially designed to develop
the executive personality and managerial skills, focusing on the
studies of management level. The degree also develops the student's
practical, managerial skills communication skills and business
decision-making capability
The academic experience at Rajagiri is thorough and challenging
to make the student achieve distinction in scholarship and
education.The campus is lively with activity all throughout the
year. The campus fosters the spirit of oneness and teamwork and
virtually everyone in the campus, the students, faculty, non
teaching staff and administration, consider themselves as an
integral part of the Rajagiri family. A few of the facilities and
programmes that Rajagiri offers, to make the life of every student
brighter and richer, are:
Eligibility for admission
Admission to B.Com/BBA Degree Programme shall be open only
to candidates who have passed the Plus Two examination of the
Higher Secondary Board of Kerala or Pre Degree of Mahatma
Gandhi University or that of any other University or Board of
Examinations in any State recognised as equivalent to the Plus
Two of the Higher Secondary Board in Kerala, with Book Keeping
and Accountancy and any two of the following subjects, (1)
Commerce (2) Commercial Correspondence and Commercial
Geography (3) Economics (4) Life Insurance with Salesmanship
(5) Banking with Secretarial Practice (6) Business Studies (7)
Mathematics (8) Computer Science (9) Computer Application
(10) Informatics Practice and (11) Management
Or
To have passed Plus Two or equivalent examination recognised by
this University with other subjects under Part III optionals,
provided they have secured 45% of the aggregate marks or an
examination accepted by the University as equivalent thereto
subject to the restriction regarding marks as mentioned above.
However, candidates belonging to scheduled caste and
scheduled tribe need to have only a pass in the qualifying
examination.
50% of seats are reserved for science group and remaining 50%
for arts and commerce group for BBA Degree Programme.

This is a vocational course with special emphasis on skill
development and proficiency for employment. The speciality of
this stream is the internship in business organizations as a
mandatory requirement of the curriculum. The students acquire
specialized theoretical and practical knowledge in the areas of
finance and taxation.
B.Com. (Computer Applications) Model 1
Students, who opt B.Com. (Computer Applications) learn not
only the subjects of Commerce and management, but also
become proficient in the use of software for their professional
requirements. The unique combination of commerce and
computer application helps them to become smart and
employable.
Students' Union: The College Union organizes and conducts
various activities and programmes throughout the year. It
organizes games and athletics competitions as part of college
union day celebrations. These diverse activities and programmes
provide wonderful opportunity for students to build up
leadership abilities, social and cultural skills.
Value Added Programmes & Add on Courses: Value added
programmes and Add on Courses specially designed to build up
and foster positive perspective towards life are offered to the
students to nurture their professional competence in accounting
and computer skills.
ACSR-Association of Commerce Students of Rajagiri: The ACSR
provides an opportunity to exhibit the variegated talents of the
commerce students and to enhance their soft skills. The social
responsibility and social commitment of the students are
prioritized in this extracurricular platform. The association focuses
on the all round personnel development of each student as he/she
leaves the institution with academic excellence to match.
SPLENDORE: School of Commerce in collaboration with other UG
Departments of Rajagiri College organizes SPLENDORE, the Grad
Fest every year. It brings together the Plus Two and Graduate
students of Kerala to showcase their talents. It has become a
flagship programme of Rajagiri Group of Institutions.

This is an academic course which focuses on finance and tax
management with special emphasis on skill development and
proficiency for employment. The students acquire specialized
theoretical and practical knowledge in the areas of finance and
taxation which will equip them to advance to higher studies
Deeksharambham: Otherwise called the induction ceremony, it is
a unique happening to welcome the freshers to the academic life
in Rajagiri. The event is a true reflection of the rich Rajagiri culture
and way of life.
Yoga and Meditation: An integral part of the campus life is the
morning yoga class which keeps the student mentally and
physically fit.

Duration of the Programmes
The duration of the programme is three academic years with six
