Sand-less refinishing for prefinished and
site-finished hardwood and bamboo flooring
Hardwood flooring of any type or finish will need to be recoated
at some point in its lifetime. Whether a wood or bamboo floor
is site-finished or prefinished from the factory, years of foot
traffic, pet scratches, sunlight, routine maintenance and other
influences will reduce the floor’s overall gloss and appearance.

completely flat. Even a site-finished floor might not be able to
take another sanding, if it had been refinished so many times
that another pass would expose the fasteners.
Traditional methods for refinishing these floors require them
to be sanded down to bare wood. This time-consuming, costly
process is a dusty undertaking that is subject to the skill level
of the refinisher.
For these circumstances and more, MAPEI’s Ultracoat ReNewIt
System of products allows a floor to be recoated simply and
without sanding. Note that this system will not correct deep
scratches or gouges, nor will it allow a change in the floor color.
However, Ultracoat ReNewIt System will provide a new, wellbonded finish that recreates a new-floor look quickly and easily,
without the risks and hassles of a full sanding and recoating.

Ultracoat High Traffic is a twocomponent, water-based woodflooring finish that is available in the
gloss levels of matte, satin and semigloss. Suitable for use in interior
residential and heavy commercial
applications where extreme traffic is expected, Ultracoat
High Traffic is an aliphatic polyurethane resin system with
excellent abrasion resistance for solid, pre-sanded wood
floors. Ultracoat High Traffic adds a warm color to the wood
and is non-yellowing.
