Introduction
Uni Black Box is complex device designed for servicing cellular phones.
It's All-in-One device that contain:
1) UniBox with Fbus transmission.
2) Nokia Griffin Box - service for all Nokia phones.
3) SonyEricsson DIV - for new SonyEricsson phones.
4) Sagem Code Reader – for unlocking Sagem phones.
5) USB hub - You can connect any USB device.
6) Extension socket – lets You to Upgrade Your UBB

Basic details
Switches and LEDs.
Front of UBB
1) SWITCH DEVICE. Use this switch to change active device.
After Power ON the box – Fbus is set as default.
2) USB Socket. You can connect any USB device.
3) Fbus. Work with most popular mode, this mode can be used simultaneously with any other
mode. Software recommended for this mode is Universal Simlock Remover - included
with Uni Black Box.
LEDs signaling:
1.In COM mode(switch on back panel):
a – RX.
b – only Fbus is active.
c – TX.
2.USB mode:
a – RX.
b – ON – only Fbus is active.
BLINKING – VCP in use.
c – TX.
4) Griffin. Uni Black Box works as Griffin Box. Use it for NOKIA phones.
LEDs signaling:
d – Phone supply voltage ON
e – Griffin Mode active
f – blinking – Device works fine.
5) DIV. Uni Black Box works as Sony Ericsson DIV.
LEDs signaling:
g – DIV Mode active
6) Sagem Code Reader. Unlock Sagem phones.
Note: This socket is shared with ADD (addition socket)
LEDs signaling:
h – SCR Mode active
7) Add. This mode can be activated only if extension is plugged into extension socket .
Devices from side socket share RJ45 socket with SCR.

Back of UBB
1) Power connector. External power supply IS NOT necessary. UBB is powered from USB
port. Optional external power supply should be: 8-9V 300-500mA, '+' inside.
Note: External power supply is needed ONLY when some problems with Griffin appears.
2) DB 25 – data cable connector.
3) USB Socket – Indispensable power supply, overcurrent protection and data for fast Fbus
VCP (Virtual COM Port) mode.
4) Fbus mode switch:
a) Switch up – fast VCP (UBB USB<->Fbus) Virtual COM.
b) Switch down (as on drawing) – Hardware COM.

Cable set description and safety measures.
1) Cable Set
Package contains:
1) Set of 70 cables to work with fbus mode. Allow to work (simlock, language, repair) with
many phones for example Siemens phones from x25 up to x6x models.
2) One cable for SonyEricsson phones.
Cable works with DIV LPT5 software an allow full service of SonyEricsson:

Allow full service of Nokia phones.

To each socket specific cables designed. Using wrong cables may destroy Uni Black Box.
With Griffin socket use only cables with this sticker:
With DIV socket use only cable marked as SE DIV
With SCR socket use only 2 cables with 4 testpoint wires

2) Switching to desired operating mode
To switch between modes use SWITCH DEVICE key.
1) Fbus. For majority of phones. Service: unlock, repair, language change, flash.
2) Griffin. Use only with Nokia phones. Service: unlock, repair, language change, flash.
3) DIV. Use only with SonyEricsson phones. Service: unlock, repair, language change, flash
4) SCR.Use only with Sagem phones. Service: unlock.
5) Add. For additional devices, can be activated only when device is plugged into side socket.
3) Safety measures

Always use power supply from USB.
Before You connect any cable, make sure You are using correct cable.
Don NOT use cables not included in package.
Do NOT use other external power supply than described in this manual.
Do NOT connect high voltage.
Keep box away from water. (if box get wet, dry it well before connect any cable)
Uni Black Box Works with Windows XP and 2000. Recommended OS is Windows 98. In
other OS some modes may work incorrectly.

Unlocking, Flashing...
Connecting to PC.
Use only cables supplied with Uni Black Box.
Drivers and Software Setup.
Drivers setup
Drivers are required to operate with VCP Fbus mode.
1) Connect USB cable.
2) ”Add New Hardware Wizard” will start automatically. Click “Next >”

3) Choose “Search for the best driver...” and click “Next >”
4) Check “CD-ROM drive” or “Specify a location” (if driver is on other location) and click
“Next >”
5) When driver is found click “Next >”
6) Next screen - click “Finish”. Done.

Port Configuration

Go to Control Panel ->System
Switch to “Device Manager”
Explode group“Ports(COM& LPT)
Double click on “UBB USB<->Fbus”.

If necessary, set required Com number (Most software included in USR supports
COM1...COM4)

To use Griffin Box You have to install software from included CD or downloaded from
website.

After install (some phones requires Flash Update installation too), on your desktop a new icon
“Griffin Nokia” will appear - double click on it when Uni Black Box is switched to Griffin
and no phone is connected (sometimes the phone may have too big power consumption).
You should see “ACTIVATED BOX” message.

To change language (unlock) in NOKIA DCT3 (example 3410):

Download and install correct flash files pack.
Start Griffin software.
Connect phone with correct cable.
Check “DCT3 Phone”
phone will auto power on
note: if phone will not power on automatically
disconnect the phone, close Griffin program and got point 2 (try also reboot PC).
5. Click “Detect Phone”
6. Choose from list correct files pack.
7. If numbers in marked areas are the same uncheck ”MCU”
8. Click “Flash” and wait until You see this text
9. To unlock DCT3 NOKIA, click “Unlock” after step 5

To change language(unlock) in NOKIA DCT4 (example 3510):

Download and install correct flash files pack.
Start Griffin software.
Connect phone with correct cable.
Power on the pone and click “Detect Phone”
Choose from list correct files pack
6. If numbers in marked areas are same uncheck ”MCU”
7. Click “Flash” and wait for this text
8. Now phone have MCU and PPM in 5.02 version.
9. To unlock, click “Unlock” after step 4.

Other functions (ex. Nokia 6600):

Connect phone with correct cable.
Power on phone and click “Detect PHONE”
click “serial >>”
From Features menu choose: Phone BB Tests(Self Test)
Click “Execute”

SonyEricsson DIV – manual
For older Ericsson phones use Fbus mode, for newer pones You need DIV interface and
special (SE DIV) cable.
OS: Recommended: Windows 98. Works also on: XP and 2000.

Connect UBB to PC with main cable and USB cable

Press SWITCH DEVICE button on UBB until DIV mode is set
Run USR software
Run “DIVLPT 5” software by clicking on START button
Connect phone using “SE DIV” cable

To change phone firmware switch to “Flash”
Check “Flash AVR CPU” , “Flash ARM CPU” or “Write GDFS file”
Choose file and click “Do Selected Jobs”

Check some jobs to do (“Read ALL Codes” or direct “Clear SP Locks”)

Pres on phone keyboard <**< (“<” is cursor in left)
This way you will access “Personalization” menu
Choose “NET” and enter NCK code

Sagem Code Reader – manual
OS: Recommended: Windows 98. Works also on: XP and 2000.

Connect Box with main and USB cable
Press SWITCH DEVICE until SCR mode will be activated
Run USR software
Run “Sagem Code Reader v14” software by clicking START

Connect phone to UBB

Connect plug into sagem phone and soldier testpoints into sagem board like shown
below

If You have problems soldiering to Sagem board You can buy Sagem additions – It is
not in set.

Phone Code (User Code) is displayed in 5-th line from top – right here
How to enter the unlock code:
•
power on the phone with locked SIM card
enter unlock code from last line (without “-”)

Troubleshooting
“Phone NOT FOUND” You must check if:
1. Battery is well connected and fully loaded
2. Phone is turned ON
3. C2 or 9xx connector is correctly connected to the phone
“Bad connection” Check if:
1. Testpoint wires are correctly mounted!
2. C2 or 9xx connector is correctly connected to the phone

Fbus – manual
This socket is for most phones. It's most popular interface for communication.
All You have to do is install Universal Simlock Remover and look at SOFTWARE and
DOCUMENTATION sections - there is description of the software and how to use it.
Example
Example of use with LG8120 and “Lg Workshop By Vygis” software (This software is NOT
free)

Connect phone with cable marked as LG8110.
(On the photo You may see usage of USB hub. Vygis key connected.)
1. Choose COM port which You want use.
If You are using “UBB USB<-> Fbus”port, switch UBB into VCP fbus mode.
2. Set transmission speed. Note that speeds above 115200 kb/s are available only for VCP
Fbus mode.
3. Choose phone model.
4. Click “Connect”.
5. In tab “Unlocker” You can unlock your phone.

6. In tab “U81xx” You can lock your phone (Relock PHONE) or read GDFS (Read GDFS)

Warning!
Uni Black Box is set of cables and devices.
This manual describes how to use it.
If You are doing everything carefully there will be no troubles.
But always there is a risk of incorrect unlock or flash write/read.
Everything You do on Your own risk..
