Race Information
1. For the Time Trial (TT) event, the TT bike jig will be available for competitors to check
their bikes from 4:00pm at TT Race HQ.
2. Each Road Race (RR) event will have at least two neutral service vehicles and a broom
wagon. Each team is expected to supply one pair of wheels. Wheels should be collected
from service immediately after each stage.
3. Each RR event begins with a neutralized section. It is important the whole race remains
compact during neutralization, and that team cars get in place as quickly and safely as
possible.
4. Food will be provided after each event for riders and officials in relevant Race HQ. Food
will only be provided to those with a wrist-band, which will be provided at sign-on.
5. RR Podium presentations (first 3 riders) will take place immediately after the race finish in
the cycling village adjacent to the finish line. The main presentations will take place back
in the Race HQ after each race finish along with refreshments. Showers and changing
facilities are available in the Race HQ.
6. After the RR race finish, riders should proceed up the town centre where they will be
diverted down Bridge Street back towards Race HQ.
7. Team cars will be diverted at the finish of each RR (at last corner – cars will proceed
straight across junction and assemble below cycling village – note roof height!).
8. Finishers medals will be presented to riders directly after crossing the finishing line of
their event.
Race Regulations
1. The Irish National Cycling Championships are promoted, by Omagh Wheelers cycling
club, under the regulations of the International Cycling Union (UCI) and Cycling Ireland.
2. The TT Championships, Elite Women’s and Senior Men's are all held under UCI
Regulations. The Masters Championships are held under Cycling Ireland regulations.
3. All personnel must sign-on at the start, including team managers/drivers.
4. All team drivers must hold a current UCI issued licence, and produce this to the
Commissaire at sign-on. A second competent person must be present in team cars.
5. All team managers must attend the pre-race Managers meeting at which the team car
draw will be made.
6. Participants in the event are responsible for all expenditure and costs arising in relation
to the race and for any offences or damages caused. Entry to the event implies
acceptance of these Race Regulations. The only exceptions will be by specific
arrangements with the Race Organisation. Any loss or damage to radios used in the race
is the liability of the team or individual who signs for it. It is recommended that the
equipment is put away safely when not in use.
7. The race is run on roads open to the public. All involved (riders, marshals, team drivers)
must take due care at all times. Take proper notice of directions given by marshals and
the PSNI.
8. All team cars are to take up race formation 10 minutes before the start of each event.
Team cars must have approval from the Commissaires if they wish to move in the
Cavalcade.
9. Race communication will be via radio on the ‘Cycling Ireland’ frequency 453.5625mhz.
Radio’s can be hired from the Race organizers at a cost of £10each.
10. The transmission of radio messages is reserved to the Commissaires, and the race
organisation. Team managers are forbidden to transmit, unless their advice is asked for,
or the matter is important and urgent.
11. A cut-off time of 8% will apply to the Elite Women and Senior Mens road races.

Marshal guidance
Your role as a marshal is crucial to ensure the safety of competitors, officials and the general
public. It is very important you attend the marshals meeting before each race where full
instructions will be given. You also must sign-on before each race.
You are provided with a ‘Marshal pack’ with the following:
• Nationals string bag & T-shirt (as a thank you for your support);
• Souvenir race programme (as a thank you for your support);
• Hi-vis bib (please wear at all times whilst on duty);
• Nationals lanyard (this will identify you as part of the race organisation)
• Food to allow you stay at your marshal point during race times;
• Whistle (please use as the race approaches);
Your main duties are to:
• Be familiar with your junction and technical manual information;
• Liaise with PSNI officers to ensure the safety of the route point;
• Ensure traffic only flows one-way on relevant roads (Kevlin road, Crevenagh road,
Racolpa road and St Mary’s road);
• Monitor spectators and the crowd to identify signs of distress and take action if
necessary;
• Prevent, in so far as is possible, standing/climbing on fences and other structures.
(Where, by virtue of the scale of the incident, Marshalls are unable to prevent such
activity, they should immediately report the matter to the Chief Marshal, or the
nearest PSNI Officer);
• Control entrances, exits and other strategic points;
Traffic Control
As a civilian marshal, you DO NOT have the authority to stop traffic. Only the PSNI have the
authority to stop traffic. You can however, hold traffic that has already been stopped by
PSNI.
Bus Access
Once Drumragh Avenue is closed, the only traffic that will be permitted is Translink buses.
At the approach to High St junction, buses should be held in either lane which is not in use
and held until PSNI officers confirm the race is at least 5mins away (i.e. not on Gortin road).
Buses will then gain access to the Bus depot via Mountjoy road junction via a 2-way traffic
flow between Omagh college and the Bus depot;
Taxi access
Taxis will be permitted access/exit via the 2-way traffic flow on Mountjoy road.
Control Room
Community House on Drumragh Avenue will act as a Assembly point for lost children.
TheControl room will be staffed by Emergency services, and Shaun McBride from Omagh
Wheelers CC (07813 177613).
If any further information or guidance is needed, please contact Chief Marshal – Mark
McAleer – on 07979 796911.
Thank you for your time and support.
