2014 Project Syncere Summer Camp
Project SYNCERE’s Summer STEM Camp is all about discovery, creating, building, and making things better! If you enjoy discovering new things, solving problems, and learning how things work then this is a great place to learn what it takes to be an engineer! Our summer camp consists of six independent sessions, each lasting one week and incorporating a different engineering principle and weekly field trips. Sessions Session 1 (June 30 -‐ July 3) Computer Science Applications – Robotics No program July 4, in observance of Independence Day. Students will learn how to think logically and theoretically, like a computer scientist. Session 2 (July 7 -‐ July 11) Structural Engineering Around the World Students will explore the impact of extreme climate on homes built in various regions around the world. Session 3 (July 14 -‐ July 18) Robotics and Automation – LEGO EV3 Robotics and Automation teaches students how to build and program robots using the Lego Mindstorms EV3 system. Session 4 (July 21 -‐ July 25) Electrical Engineering -‐ Arduino Students will learn the basics of electrical engineering and the fundamentals of building an electrical circuit. Session 5 (July 28 -‐ August 1) Underwater Robotics – Lego NXT Using Lego Mindstorms NXT Power Functions, students will discover what makes up a simple robot by building and test their own underwater robot. Session 6 (August 4 – August 8) Aerospace Engineering and Aviation Students will test the physics concepts associated with the design of flying machines and will experiment with lift, stability, control, and propulsion. Cost: $250/session if registered by M ay 15 $275 after May 15 $1375 when you pay for all 6 weeks Sample Daily Schedule 8:30 AM 9:00 10:00 11:30 12:30 PM 1:00 3:00 3:15 4:15 4:30 Teambuilding Intro to Engineering Project Planning + Brainstorming Physical Activity Lunch Project Planning + Building Break Project Building Daily Recap Dismissal Form more info, contact: Project SYNCERE 4434 S.
