From the Principal’s Desk
Welcome back to everyone for term 3. We have made a smooth start to the
term although the cold weather is a challenge for everyone.
We had a working bee over the holidays and
removed the in-ground trampoline and filled the
hole. The plan is to replace this with an above
ground trampoline.
Thanks to Wendy, Rod, Natalie and Daryl
for attending and getting the job done.
Swimming
Reminder to everyone that swimming resumes on Monday for 3-weeks so
don’t forget to pack your gear and have a little extra in your lunch boxes.
New Bus Schedules
Thanks to everyone for their patience with the new bus schedules.
We have made a few minor changes this week so keep an eye on your
child/children’s times.
With the increase enrolments we have only 8-seats spare across all the buses
so it is quite tight.

Journal for Visual Arts.
Please take the time to
look through them and
then return them to the
school as soon as you
can.
At the end of the year they will be yours to keep.
Yours sincerely, Jan Tonkin.
Physical Education (PE) news
Welcome back all – we had a great start to the term on Monday with 11 lucky students
attending the AFL / ESSENDON Football Clinic in Portland.
After trying many new skills with students from Bayview College there were eight
Essendon players on hand to answer a barrage of questions from eager primary school
children.
The question of the day went to our own Sarah Whiting who asked the players what their greatest moment
was, the players were so impressed with Sarah’s question all eight answered. Well done Sarah.
Starting Monday we have three weeks of swimming. I am really looking forward to this because the
students have really proved themselves in the pool.
Next term we have athletics sports in Warrnambool, which we are organising, so after swimming we will
start training. Keep warm and active, Emma Rudge :)

Message for Parents, Carers and the Local Community
(from Dept of Ed)
A. Want to read about our school highlights?
Our 2013 Annual Report to the school community is now available in the State Register on the
Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority’s website: http://www.vrqa.vic.gov.au/
StateRegister/Search.aspx/Search?SearchType=0.
The annual report is a key legislative and regulatory requirement, but it is also is an important way
to keep our school community informed about how we are performing and what is being done to
improve the learning, engagement and wellbeing of our students.
Providing information about our school in this format helps the community to become involved and
engaged in discussions about the school and how further improvements can be supported.
I encourage you to have a look at our report.
B. Do you have a child with a disability about to move from primary
to secondary school?
New information and advice is available to support children and young people with additional or
complex needs that arise from disability or difficulties in learning transition from primary to
secondary school.
Transitioning from primary to secondary school can present a significant change and adjustment
in the lives of children and young people and for their parents, carers or guardians.
The new resource provides a framework for transitioning students, a suggested timeline for key
planning activities and links to additional information. Find out more information here:
