Geography: Thailand is located in south
east Asia and can be broken into 5 areas.
The North including Chiang Mai with its
Jungles and Hill tribes. Central Thailand
which includes Bangkok. Eastern Thailand
with beaches and Islands like Koh Samet
and Pattaya within easy reach from
Bangkok. Southern Thailand which is
home to the popular Islands of the Gulf of
Thailand and the Andaman Sea, such as
Phuket and Koh Samui. The final area is
Isaan which is the north-eastern (off the
beaten track) region.
Language: English is widely spoken,
however Thai is the official language.
Passport: A valid passport (valid for a
minimum of 6 months after return)

certificates.
Visas: for stays under 30 days, South
African Passport holders do not require
visas.
Climate: Thailand has a tropical climate and temperatures typically range from 19 to 38 degrees C. Generally
speaking, Thailand can be divided into three seasons: “hot” season, rainy season, and “cool” season, though
Thailand’s geography allows visitors to find suitable weather somewhere in the country throughout the year.
The southern region of Thailand really has only two seasons -- the wet and the dry. These seasons do not run at
the same time on both the east and west side of the peninsular. On the west coast rainy season runs from April
through to October, whilst on the east coast the most rain falls between September and December. During the
monsoon season, ‘tropical’ hard and fast showers in the early morning and late afternoon can be common,
while the temperature remains warm
