The Bluecoat is a grade one listed building,
Liverpool city centre’s oldest building
and one of the UK’s oldest arts spaces.
With origins as a charity school in the
18th and 19th centuries, the Bluecoat went
on to develop a fascinating 20th Century
heritage showcasing the early works of
everyone from Picasso to Benjamin Britten,
Yoko Ono, Captain Beefheart, Michael
Clarke, Nitin Sawney and Jeremy Deller.
We are delighted to be able offer some of our
spaces for corporate and private hire. Whether
you are looking to host a dinner, conference,
party or a meeting, the Bluecoat has a variety
of spaces to accommodate your needs.
Our on-site events team is here to help with
the planning and preparation of your function
and our in-house caterers are able to arrange
delicious food and drink to suit your occasion
and budget.
About the Bluecoat·
Since re-opening in March 2008,
the Bluecoat has once more come
alive as a vibrant a arts space and
home to creative industries.
After £14.5 million redevelopment over 3 years,
we proudly reopened our Grade One listed
building during Liverpool’s year as European
Capital of Culture. Reborn in the heart of
Liverpool One – the city’s new vibrant
leisure district.
The striking yet sensitive redevelopment has
been recognised both at home and abroad,
receiving accolades including a special
commendation at the World Architecture
FestivalAwards and winning the inaugural
Liverpool Architectural Society’s ‘Building
of the Year’ award.
The Bluecoat is a vibrant arts space,
presenting an exciting year-round programme
of contemporary visual arts, music, dance, live
artand literature. It is also home to a community
of artists and creatives who make and sell their
work in this inspirational setting. Visitors to
the Bluecoat are not only invited to view art
but to experience the whole creative process
from conception to consumption in this truly
unique creative space.
