Why This Training?
Developing skills in folk dance will
enable you to:
Provide the opportunity for
students to refine steady beat
and coordination
Encourage students’ sequential thinking
Improve students’ attending and focus
Help students develop the language link
between thinking and doing
Create opportunities for positive social interaction among classmates
Identify curriculum concepts embedded in folk dances
This workshop provides teachers with effective strategies to improve
student performance both within movement and music as well as in
other curriculum areas. Learning to attend and focus pays dividends
across the curriculum. All educators are faced with major challenges
teaching students today. Now, more than ever before in the history of our
country, high quality physical education and music programs are vital
to students’ growth and development. Folk dance is an essential part of
any high quality program. This workshop will help you get started or
expand your existing program.
